  1. Welcome @Brioski! Good for you, using that unexpected hospital stay to quit the poison sticks!! I did the same thing when I wound up in hospital 5 years ago... I like corned beef and cabbage and eat it basically once a year on St. Patrick's day...although I sometimes crave a Reuben sandwich once in a while
  2. Congrats, @intoxicated yoda! To yourself give big reward for milestone reached.... and KTQ!
  3. I really took the reward concept to heart...in the beginning of my quit it was small things every week. Rewarded myself every week for the first year! Then I started saving up for bigger things...and this month I just purchased a 10 x 12 shed and will install a potting table along one wall (w help from the bf!) for my gardening tasks. It should arrive at the end of March...just in time for planting season. I have so many add'l plans for my "She Shed"...can hardly wait!
  4. Congrats, @despair not! Celebrate your huge milestone!!!
  5. Congrats, @Boo! Reward yourself on your achievement and KTQ! Thanks for being here...
  6. Congrats, @Steven Drojensky! Celebrate your achievement and KTQ!
  7. Oohh....I remember those early days of dealing w the god-awful, non-stop craves!!! The way I dealt with them: stayed away from my usual places around my house that I used for smoking. Did not sit on front porch or back patio for months!!!! Did a lot of cleaning and clearing of junk out of my house! Played solitaire and candy crush online! Did a lot of deep breathing esp sucking in air through my teeth...sounds weird, I know...but it helped!! Drank lots of water! Used nic gum when things got really bad. If I was at work, I took a walk around the building... I spent a lot of time here at QT reading all the posts and watching the videos... which helped tremendously...knowledge is power! PS I loved watching my ticker increase each day w the number of poison sticks I did not light on fire and stick in my mouth!!! Get one for yourself!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
