  3. oh, good, you bumped Babs' thread on HALT. I have one in there somewhere, the same one I have in my blog Riffing On HALT edited to fix link :)
  4. Thinking about you.
  5. From what you say, your craves and some of your other feelings coming up can be attributed to H A L T. are you hungry, angry, lonesome, tired. Learning about HALT was a keystone to my quit and continues to this day, it took a long time to un-learn sticking a cigarette in my mouth as a panacea. It took a long time to recognize what my body was really asking for. Both Tobacco and Alcohol mask what lies within and now these are coming to the front. Welcome them, accept them even if they are painful. It is the work for all of us to know ourselves, to accept ourselves and to love ourselves and the rewards of this are hard won, as you know ! Stay Cool, Be of Good Cheer. Where is that beautiful Smile ? You are Free.

  8. 1493, 'Uncovering The New World Columbus Discovered' by Charles C. Mann "... it was Columbus' activities in the years that followed, says writer Charles C. Mann, that really created the New World. When Columbus crossed the Atlantic in 1492, his journey prompted the exchange of not only information but also food, animals, insects, plants and viruses between the continents. It was a tremendous ecological convulsion — the greatest event in the history of life since the death of the dinosaurs" Here is an audio interview with the author I am finding this book really interesting, the facts surrounding Tobacco and it's link to slavery, particularly eye-opening. His prequel, "1492" was good also.

  14. Afraid to change ? I am still healthy, it isn't damaging ME. Fear and Denial DENIAL, was my modus operandi . I was The Perfect Addict. Like Sunnyside, I told myself, I enjoy it. and I did ! after all, I was diligent in feeding my addiction ! A most diligent and dedicated SLAVE. A diligent and dedicated slave killing myself, poisoning others and supporting Big Tobacco. Where's that at ? I am so glad I quit. Freedom is a tremendous Gift.
  15. site was down, Evelyn. I don't know what you would like us posters to do but, I will be glad to help in any way I can. I was thinking about maybe having a section here that referred people to different mental health sites or message boards.

Don't believe the raging psychopath inside your head. It is just your addiction yelling at you. That voice will get quieter and softer every crave you conquer. Soon, there will be no more psychopath yelling at you. Soon, you will have your True inner voice back. The voice that loves and protects you. Hold tight, stay true. Day 5, you are in the belly of the beast...hold tight, stay true. We are on your side.
  17. I sit in my rocking chair and rock. I rock with Seriousness, with Intent. I pay full attention to my distress. I give it time to show itself. Easy to identify the demon. Then, I put something on the jukebox and dance like a wild woman. Demon gone until the next time.

  19. anything you want is yours in the neighborhood cafe. but, watch out. you might not want what you want, really. I mean, I want a lot of things that aren't appropriate, like men in plaid skirts and gals looking for Latte Machitto.
  20. Sweets, It all comes down to YOU. The why's and the rest is other stuff. When you are ready, you already know...you can quit nicotine. My encouragement here, hinges on you deciding to quit. Love, S
