Just stumbled across this one.- Quit by default (due lockdown)
Keep your guard up, @helmethermit but if things are going smoothly in your quit then enjoy it. Some people actually don't struggle that much in their quit (it is a small number but I have heard of people like this.) Don't underestimate nicotine addiction and adhere to never taking another puff. Other than that, if it is smooth sailing then that is awesome.- This audio book looks good :)
Glad you found this, @Sunshine59 I initially checked this book out at the library early on in my quit and I ordered my own personal copy before I finished. You can buy it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble's websites. Allen Carr really helped me with my quit and I do recommend it for anyone who is quitting smoking.- Tuesday 31st March 2020

NOPE - Smoking sucks!- What are you doing right now
**keeping with the theme of people not taking coronavirus precautions seriously** I've been teleworking for the past few weeks due to the coronavirus. I do have to go into work for 2 partial days every other week - otherwise it is just work from home. That, along with N. Carolina's recent stay at home order (my job is exempt from that) is making my life boring and frustrating...but I know it is the right thing to do and I take it seriously. I have a coworker who works next door to my office who does not have the luxury of teleworking. You can tell he is pissed about that and he also does not take this coronavirus situation seriously. Anyway, whenever I am in the office, he'll walk right up to me and say something like, "how's your vacation going?" I'm not a violent person but it takes a lot of strength for me to not punch this guy in the face. This virus spreads often because people don't know they have it. It also spreads because of stupid people like my co-worker. That type of thing just pisses me off.- Sunday 29th March 2020
- Quit by default (due lockdown)
Congratulations on 1 week smoke free, @helmethermit- Saturday 28th March 2020
NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.- New quit date
Keep up the great work, Irene. Never take another puff and you will not have to go through these first days again. Good job!- Happy Birthday bakon!
Happy belated birthday, Jill! Oh yeah, congrats Bakon.- Friday 27th March 2020
Nope!- New quit date
I am sorry to hear this, Irene. Yep, relapses make things a lot worse. Smoking helps nothing. I'm glad you are starting a quit again (and I would suggest sooner than Friday) but remember how this feels. Relapses are not something you want to go through again. Use these feelings to encourage you to quit and stay quit for good.- Why is everyone only recommending cold turkey method here ?
I quit cold turkey, although it took me multiple attempts to quit for good. I did finally quit for good through the help of another quit site (QSMB) and in my early days I assumed all of the more established quitters there quit cold turkey as well. Turns out many of them quit cold turkey but a lot of them also quit by some sort of nicotine replacement therapy. Ultimately the most important thing is did you get to the point of no longer consuming nicotine of any type. I think the belief that cold turkey is the best way to quit is because if you are successful, it is probably the quickest way to quit. I would not discourage people from using NRT to quit if they struggle keeping a quit cold turkey though. The goal is to get to the point where nicotine is completely out of your life. Once you get to that point, you have succeeded, regardless of the method. But let me repeat this. Ultimately the most important thing is did you get to the point of no longer consuming nicotine of any type. If you are still consuming nicotine at this point in your quit, Sunshine, you really need to work on getting that out of your life once and for all. Otherwise, you are still living the life of an addict.- Nancy has a new picture!!!!!
Nice picture, Nancy- Thursday 26th March 2020
NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.- Crossed over one month--finally!
Congratulations @Kate18 Keep up the great work!- Wednesday 25th March 2020
NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.- Quit by default (due lockdown)
Welcome Helmethermit. Whatever reason you have to quit smoking is a great one. Life without cigarettes is much better than continuing down the deadly path of smoking. This is true anytime but Coronavirus should be extra reason to quit. Stick around. There are lots of quit smoking resources for you to read and a number of successful quitters here who want to support you in succeeding. You are doing a great thing.- Fully Recovered
I'm glad you are ok and thanks for sharing. This is scary stuff and continuing to smoke would make it so much worse. - The Covid-19 playlist
