The trouble with working with all blokes that when on manoeuvres you are bound to end up in a titty bar, this happened once and I have to say was in usa 1997 "Oh come on tracey it will be fun don't be a prude!" So off I go and pay my $5 to go in with an escort of 12 burley infantrymen "what could go wrong?" I say to myself I can just blend into the background! Oh how wrong I didn't know where to look and I swear the strippers singled me out for butt shakes in the face, I tried to look away but there were mirrors everywhere! Then some blokes start remarking About me taking my clothes off and give them a show and my 12 men escort get all protective and tear a new a hole into said guy, massive brawl, I get frogged marched out undercover by some of the lads and thrown into transport back to camp for safety This incident mentally scarred me not to mention costing me $5 lol but the lads thought it was a Great night!! No more titty bars or women's butts in my face after that thank you :)
  11. The other week I was on a train and some guy got on puffing away what can only be described as a clarinet sized vapour with a tank on it the size of your fist when he exhaled you couldn't see anyone for a few seconds, a lady had her dog next to us and the dog kept trying to get under the seat when he saw or sensed the vapour the train was rammed and small babies and children were there but he was with a gang of drunk blokes football/halloween so none of us said anything and the conducter mysteriously stayed away, wanting to punch in the face I get! Today I passed a white van where the passenger had a babe in arms in the front seat, some people are just thick as a plank and selfish with it!!
  12. It's a sad fact that they are related to each other I can only speak from what I see or I know maybe others can relate a story? My story is my mum she is a heavy smoker and absolutely convinced she will not quit as its her only comfort!! Which is ironic as her discomfort, disability and depression is all born by smoking!! She has blocked arteries from smoking, this has been medically confirmed by examinations and consultants, she is not over weight and smoking is the number one culprit. These blocked arteries have caused her to be disabled whereas she cannot walk more than 10 meters without having to sit down, this has made her a prisoner in her own home and brought on a depression that makes her the most negative, bitter, sad person to be around. Getting her to understand or accept this has been an impossible task believe me I have tried Depression for me has been a hard learning curve one that I never understood but I'm beginning too... It's definitely not a case of "come on cheer up you miserable bugger" this was my attitude for so long and it doesn't help at all In my experience when someone is really depressed, it's just not the same as a bad day or feeling a bit low or down. So how to tackle it, well one day at a time at the moment trying to get her to at least get dressed every day for the last four days she hasn't bothered as part of the depression comes, why bother and every excuse in the book why not to bother, it's windy, it's dark, it's miserable, no one is coming I'm not going out and you offer to take her out and you get another list of excuses (she never runs out!!) etc anything rather than action! To say this is frustrating is an understatement as the opposite to depression is expression and action So at the moment every excuse I'm trying to match with a solution and buying tools and equipment that will aid this for example a walker with a basket and seat so she can walk but sit when needed without worrying about having to leave a shop or worry she won't make it A mountain we must climb just to function like a normal human being, something we take for granted when not in this position and one she herself took for granted and smoking has taken it all away from her slowly but surely over the years We all think it wont happen to us, but how it can easily sneak up its so sad The morale of the story is why climb a mountain take the easy road quit while you can, while you have your health and mobility it is surely easier than the above path This post is not for sympathy but for a stark reminder to truth What possible comfort did smoking bring here? Nothing! It's an addiction!

My aunt is coming to visit my mum for a few days so I have taken advantage and booked myself into a nice hotel, coast very near by and green hills, lots of walking planned, beach combing, shop mooching and in the evening taking advantage of the spa, pool and wine, absolute bliss!
  15. Probably a combination of all if them plus the darker nights, my best remedy get out in daylight for a brisk walk at least 20 minutes in nature is best but a walk is is a walk Massive congratulations in week 3 awesome job Bobby :)

  22. You will not be bored when you quit as you will be surprised on how much more stuff you do instead of just sitting or standing there puffing away, now that is boring!! I like it - umm no you are addicted to it and the little drug gives you a hit I COULD NOT COPE WITHOUT A SMOKE
  23. Every addict says that, newsflash you are no special snowflake, just an excuse! I CAN'T QUIT WITH CHRISTMAS COMING UP AND ALL THOSE SOCIAL EVENTS?
  24. Have fun with it :) I never went to any reunions, facebook filled the inquisitive minds, but I would like to go see a certain teacher who once said "tracey carry on like this and you won't amount to anything or go anywhere and maybe end up in prison" I would like to hire a helicopter, land in the school playing field and tell him they never caught me and I'm still on the run then fly off lol (porkandpancakes) look away nothing to see here :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
