  3. Chewie Stewie :)
  4. Awesome post, Bassman. This explains quite well why it can be more difficult to keep a quit than initially start one. It's all the triggers that you mention. The changing of the seasons is always a big one for me. It's the little things that you mentioned that when we experience them for the first time as a non-smoker seem HUGE because it's the good memories that we have from when we were smokers. We interlace the two together because smoking was a part of everything we did and often times, our lives revolved around that next cigarette. I guess we just have to separate the good things from our past from smoking because the good things had nothing to do with physical act of smoking. It's just that we had to smoke to keep feeding the addiction while we were experiencing all the wonderful things that life can bring. How better it is enjoying all of these things and not be weighted down with having to smoke and stinking everything up. Not to mention, being able to smell the crisp autumn air and enjoying the health benefits of not smoking. This post reminded of how important it is to remain aware of these triggers. Thanks, Bassman.
  5. Along with all the fine passengers, the tickets and coffee are free. No swill served on the Quit Train. B)
  6. Well Soozie, I guess it's easier to quit being a smoker than it is to quit being a klepto (lighter thief). hahahahaha :) That's awesome news because since you can be in a pub around smokers and not light up, there's no reason to ever smoke again. Job well done!! PS, you're now the official non-smoking lighter thief. If anybody board this train with a lighter, steal it! :) hehe
  7. lol You will once you get to know Bakon. :) At first you're like what did he just say? lol
  8. lol^^^^
  9. Yes, vent away, just not about other forums. That's pretty liberal considering how many rules there could be. :)
  10. Additionally, we don't make any money from the membership here. No get paid to click, using posts for marketing etc. This is just a straight up support group like you'd see at the local diner for recovering addicts. They meet for support, not to make money. Same as us. :)
  11. There is a difference between freedom of speech and the right to be published. Freedom of speech will only give people the right to make their own web site to express their opinions, but they may not demand to be published on any other web sites. A good example is book publishing: You may write your own book, but you may not go to a publisher and demand them to publish it for you. If you want to publish it, and there are no publishers willing to do it, you would have to print the book yourself and contact any stores and ask them if they would sell it. If nobody will sell it, you'll have to open your own store to sell it. So, if members want to make negative comments about other support groups, they can make their own forum to do so but expect to met with possible legal action because if those support groups are there to make money, they can come after you. I've seen it before. Nothing like that has happened here and I won't even let things get close to that, but it's my responsibility to make the final decision on these matters and I make them based on what's best for this community as a whole. This is a quit smoking support community. Making negative posts about other similar websites, members etc., does not promote the atmosphere that will be maintained here. It does nothing to help other members regarding their addiction and most, if not all members are here because they don't want that kind of atmosphere. Everybody is free to say what they want and it's my responsibility to decide if it meets the perimeters of this forum. There is one thing that I've repeatedly expressed in these threads and private messages and that is please do not make negative comments about other support groups or bring up issues from other forums. Those issues belong to them, not us. Besides, they're not here to defend themselves so it does no good to bring these sorts of things up anyway. With freedom comes responsibility.--MQ
  12. You guys can tell whoever you want about this site as long as you don't use QSMB (making threads or even sending private messages) to do it because it's against their rules and we need to respect that. Thanks for all your help in growing this community and it truly is yours.:)
  13. Myself and the moderators are immediately alerted each time a post is created in this forum. Hopefully this will help safeguard against an SOS falling through the cracks, which is the LAST thing any of us want to happen.
  14. Fixed! Once you click the "blog" tab, hit the "create blog" and it will walk you through the set up process. :)
  15. Julie can put all of her stuff in her blog and it will be seen by more people and much easier organized. Lot's of cool things to do with a blog. I agree, Julie has a ton of knowledge to help people. Not much smoking either, about life in general. If you guys don't like the blog option we can set up something that works better for you. :)
  16. I opened up the Blog section of the site so any member who wants to keep their own quit journal or blog, has the ability to do so. You can link to threads etc. Lots of cool stuff to do with the blogs. Let me know if anybody has any issues creating any. All permissions should be in order. :)
  17. Let me double check it again and make sure something didn't revert back to a previous setting.
  18. Hi Craig! Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words. That blog and all that stuff on it used to be private and only viewable to myself. It was a way to hold myself accountable make sure that I read did something everyday to work on my quit when I was participating on any online support groups. Yeah, all that stuff to keep my mind busy. lol Again, thank you for your kind words. :)
  19. As long as it loads, you're good to go. :)
  20. I know one person is having trouble getting it load and am curious if anybody else is experiencing any issues. Thanks!--MQ
  21. I would tell him to first just stop smoking and then point him here so we can all help him. Remove the desire smoke and it becomes much easier. Suggest Allen Carr etc. George, I think you know more than you think about quitting. I think your words of wisdom how you were able to quit will go a long way with your friend. He asked you because he wants your help. :)
