  11. Congratulations Doreen!!! Thank you for all that you do. You are an amazing inspiration to us all!
  12. Congratulations Doreen! 13 years is an inspiration to others. I'm sure it's difficult for you to realize just how many people you've helped solidify their quits over the years but it's certainly noticable to the rest of us and that's something to be very proud of. Hope you celebrate all these accomplishments today 🎉
  13. So happy and proud for you dear friend! In some ways, it is hard to believe we started our journey together 13 years ago, We have been through a lot together...some happy and some heartbreaking. Love you to pieces and hope you have a wonderful day! "At 13 years after quitting smoking, your risk of lung cancer drops to roughly half that of a smoker, your risk for several other cancers decreases significantly, and your body continues profound long-term healing. According to the American Cancer Society, major milestones reached around this timeframe include dramatically lower disease odds compared to those who continue to smoke"
  14. Woo hoo… you made it to Day 4!! We used to organize our whole lives around smoking, it set the rhythm of our lives. So it’s natural to feel a little adrift at moments when we used to smoke. It gets better. You are 100% right that you can do this. Cravings are not commands, just obnoxious commercials for junk you don’t wanna buy. Good riddance, and stay strong!
  15. This all sounds very familiar. That's the daily fight in those early days but as you say; you can do hard things and it WILL be worth it! Won't it be amazing when suddenly you realize that you woke up and didn't even think about wanting to have a smoke? That day will come! Stay the course👍
  16. 1 point
I wish I would have done this in the weeks leading up to my quit.
  17. Yeah, that confused me early on too. I learned the differences in date formats on a quit smoking board similar to this one (QSMB) in the early days of my quit. Learned a lot since I quit smoking. Don't regret quitting at all. Congrats again @Doreensfree
  18. Congratulations my friend! I hope you have something special planned for today. The Summer quitters of 2013 continue to rock on!
  19. Congratulations!!🥳 13 years is awesome!
  20. I am not going to smoke today. NOPE.
  21. Good for you @JoJo! Day 3 huh? The worst of the withdrawal effects are hopefully subsiding. Hang in there - you're doing something wonderful for yourself!
  22. Oh my goodness, your granddaughter is beautiful! It must have felt so good to enjoy camping with your family without having to worry about getting your nicotine fix. Congrats on your success!
  23. @QuittingGirl I'm still getting the cravings occasionally. They're physical, they're an uncomfortable pinch of loss - but I recognize them for exactly what they are and push through. KtQ!
  24. Well, @shy you and I lead very similar lives, with regard to quitting, and quitting with Chantix, in addition to having a mother who smokes, we both live with our Moms, well sort of! My mom and I own a two family house. She lives downstairs and my family and I live upstairs. But, you get the picture, and to make a long story short, I can smell her smoke in the common hallway because smoke rises. So, it hasn't been easy, but I have gotten through it, and YOU WILL TOO!!!! 👍 As I said a couple times earlier, VISIT THIS SITE EVERY SINGLE DAY, (SEVERAL DAYS, AT LEAST!) DO IT, YOU CERTAINLY CAN!!!👍
  25. Very sorry to hear that you went back, but it's very good that you came back on here! This is my 2nd, and last time quitting! I certainly don't want to go through those horrible withdrawal symptoms again! NO WAY!!! Just the thought of that really upsets me because it was just terrible!😬 The first time I quit, I didn't have this forum, but I believe if I did, I would not have gone back to smoking. The members of QuitTrain are amazing!😃 They have helped me so much since the day I came on here, and we will help you too! You just have to stick around! I really mean it, support will really help you to quit. We are addicts, just like drug addicts, gambling addicts, and any type of addict needs support. I remember when I used to go to Weight Watchers, they said that you really have to attend the meetings for it to work, and it's true. Addicts need support because quitting any addiction is really really difficult, but it can be done, and when you have support, it makes it so much easier because you aren't alone. We were all newbies at one time, some were able to quit only once and others like you, myself and many others are on their hopefully FINAL time! Hey I can't go back to smoking because my dear friend and co-moderator @Doreensfree would woop my A$$....LOL!!!🤣❤️ YOU CAN DO THIS SHY!!!💪👍 I want to add another tip, if you haven't done it yet. Get rid of any smoking paraphenalia that is in your living quarters. No packs of cigarettes, ashtrays, matches lighters, anything related to smoking!
  26. Hi shy, good to see you back, and getting back at it. It is scary to think of never smoking again, but take it a day at a time, and give yourself small rewards for getting through a day, then a week, and so on. It’s amazing how health and wealth grows.
  27. I'm glad I came across this. I'm on my first day of quitting. My flavored air inhaler is not satisfying so I had a moment of thinking about getting a zero nicotine vape. I realize now that you can't trust the manufactures and that they're likely to contain a nicotine analog in them.
  28. You have put some tools in your tool box You can do it ….Well done 🐸
  29. Hi all, thanks for the encouragement and support. Today is the 7th day of my Chantix ramp-up. Tomorrow I start taking the full dose. And tomorrow, August 4th, is my quit day!! I've been watching Joel's videos, making lists of why I'm quitting and how I'm going to do it, telling friends and family my plan and getting my tools ready. Tonight I will get rid of all vapes and cigs. Tomorrow I will be here to pledge NOPE and check-in. I know the first few days will be the hardest but I will tough it out and be rewarded in so many ways. I'm ready to say b'bye to that nasty ball and chain. ❤️ JoJo
  30. Unfortunately, you are not alone where you find yourself today. So many chose to vape in the hope of quitting smoking but instead as you and everyone else discovered all it did is increase the "want" for more and more nicotine by changing the mechanics of getting it. An addiction to nicotine is still an addiction regardless of the device used. The only way out is to discontinue its use in all forms. (The vaping industry makes me soooooo mad can you tell lol). You can do this. Educate yourself (read, read read; find the bullet points that speak to you and send you over the wall of "no going back") and do your prep work (plan, tools, mantras, lists, rewards, etc.). You have to choose freedom every day in the beginning and be willing to go through whatever it takes to get yourself off the merry-go-round of active addiction. No shortcuts. Total abstinence is key. NOPE. Not One Puff Ever. Break the chains. Best Wishes.
