  3. I've done the strolls around the parking lot as well. One of the things that was a "don't quit" excuse was "what will I do at work without my smoke breaks?" And then I thought, "Why do I need to smoke? Can't I just go outside for ten minutes and not smoke?" I agree. Mine is still, obviously, in training, but I think you're right. It's the biggest weapon smoking has against us but it can be turned into the biggest weapon we have against it. Thanks! So far, so good!

  17. Thank you for all the good wishes. I was dismissing rewarding myself, well, you know...after 12 years... but, splurged and bought myself a rug I've been lusting after. Now, I have a concrete reminder of my accomplishment. Y'all, please remember to reward yourself, to mark all dates important to you. At the beginning, I rewarded myself minute to minute by stashing the money I would have spent smoking and with little things that made me happy, like a sit in the sun or listening to a piece of music, wetting my brushes. These rewards are super important to re-enforce your quit with healthy driven endorphins. Thanks again to everyone here. S

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
