December 19, 20178 yr I know the first thing everyone thought of was masturbation. But no, that is not it. And in light of this board, everyone's second thought was smoking. Well yeah but that isn't the one I am talking about here. Living on one's cell phone? Mostly the millenials. Anything to keep them out of our hair. So anyways, this hoooooorrrrible addiction out there is - Pepsi. Yes. It IS an addiction. through some independent scientific research, I figured it out. My first experiment was going to involve giving my dog pepsi to drink but it seems animals are not so interested in acidic fluids. So, I had to try it for myself. I used to go through three to six cans of pepsi each day. Well, about the time I got sick the week of Thanksgiving, everything started tasting different, many things were gross, including sodas. So, much like how I gave up smoking (when I was sick the first week of october) I figured this would be a golden opportunity to stop drinking sodas. BUT, sure as shit stinks, about the time the third week hit, I was craving my Pepsi like hell. So I bought some, figuring an 8 pack of 12 oz bottles should last at least a week. It lasted three days. But that is OK. I have more in the car that i am too lazy to bring in the house. I tell ya, I was able to beat smoking but my addiction to Pepsi is so much stronger. I had the same thoughts and feelings about wanting a pepsi as i did a cigarette. BUT, I didn't and won't give in to the smoking crave. One cause it is not as strong and also cause I would regret it instantly. Yeah, soda really is addictive. But at least it won't kill us as fast. Besides it is like screw it, I ain't giving up ALL my demons just to live a little longer. My lungs are clearing, what more does my body want? So by now, I imagine some of the sticks are still thinking about masturbation. That is OK, I am not going to duck out without giving you something to go on. Something sexy to look at. You might be thinking, "I could not do that because it would be so good that I would have a smoking relapse after!" Well, anyways, here is a picture for you to enjoy. Honey boo boos mom. December 19, 20178 yr Yeah I once did a total sugar detox for about 6 weeks, it was much worse than quitting smoking! Sugar is more addictive than cocaine! I really hate the diet stuff, pure poison in a bottle! should come with a skull and cross bones on the label. Be careful of all subjects it can make your eyes squint

Be careful of all subjects it can make your eyes squint I do believe it is more addictive than cocaine. Sugar just hits the spot like nothing else can. It hits ME in places like nothing else can. What the hell is someone suppose to eat if not sugar? My brother and sister don't eat it. My brother eats Kashi cereal (Dear GYOD) and my sis eats who knows what. One time she was making some kind of nasty green shake made of green veggies and some kind of powder and said something about how she looked forward to it each day. Screw it, I gave up the cigs but not giving up sweets. You gotta live a little. or in my case, a lot. The diet stuff - yeah, one is better off with at least real sugar. Synthetic substitues for pretty much anything are bad news. I will admit that soda is not healthy. I love it to death. However, in your case, you are still enjoying it but since it is mixed, you do not get the full (negative) effects of the acids and sugar in the soda. It is like when people go to Wendy's for a triple baconator, large fries, and get a diet soda.

I feel like I'm stating the obvious here, but some people didn't get the memo: There are whiskeys that are fine to mix and some that should only be taken neat or "straight." Crown and Coke, not a problem. Wanna mix that Jim Beam with something else, go for it. However, when I see someone dilute a fine single malt Scotch with a mixer...a little piece of me dies inside.
December 20, 20178 yr Coat me with sugar on top and baby oil waist down. If someone else is in the room it doesn't count as addictive

But at least you are doing it.... smoke free. Isn't that what it is all about for the quit train?

This is exactly right We don't even call it Whisky where I live - it's referred to as Rye. Most mix it with cola, ginger-ale 7-up, sprite or water. Rarely taken neat or on the rocks only. Scotch though is a whole different story. Neat or rocks is the only acceptable methodology in that circle ... well, scotch shooters at weddings are also acceptable (encouraged actually, assuming you are not driving or need to be functional next day)
