May 14, 20179 yr Some of you (old timers) may remember my younger sister Amey. She was diagnosed with lung cancer a couple years ago. She had joined this site in her journey to quit smoking at that time. She went a different route, but did manage to quit smoking* I have had an extremely emotional week, which brought the whole family together,but the bright spot was Thursday when I had seen Amey for the first time in quite awhile (they moved to West Virginia when Dave retired from the Navy). It seems she had an oncologist appointment on Wednesday. She informed us that she is now cancer free for 1 complete year!.. She had endured the removal of 1 lobe of her lung, and countless bouts of chemo and radiation, and then sometime in the last year both, her and her husband had a heart attack ( at different times of course ;) ) and then she got another scare, that at first thought was her heart again , but turned out to be COPD ...not good either.... But, in the end, she is cancer free and hopefully going to stay around awhile! :D
May 14, 20179 yr Thanks for sharing Joe. Another reminder of just how important it is to maintain our quits always. Glad to hear your sister is cancer free. That is good news indeed :)

May 14, 20179 yr I agree Joe..your sister has been through such alot..she must be a strong lady.. Great news she has had the all clear ..sending positive wishes... When I read posts like this ..it makes me very thankful,I am still here and healthy My poor body took a bashing.for a long time..
May 15, 20179 yr Your sister is blessed to have you and her family. Recovery is a long haul but it can be done with a consistent effort to get more active and build up strength, eat well and have an active social life to get out at least once a day and walk.
May 22, 20179 yr Oh wow, she's a trooper. She's endured so much and I'm happy to hear she's been cancer free for a year!
