April 19, 20179 yr Hey guys! I´ve been missing for a few days due to a horrible experience with Zyban (bupropion). I started with a dosage of 150 mg and everything was fine but when the doctor doubled my dosage to get the aid with quitting smoking effect I went totally manic. This wasn´t a nice euphoria when you feel happy and that´s it. This was a "I´ll fly through the roof" euphoria. So my husband called the doctor and he told me to stop taking Zyban totally and that sent me into terrible depression. I´ve battled with depression before and this is a big one. I just wanted to let you guys know how I´m doing and let newcomers and lurkers know that Zyban might sound like a great idea for quitting but it can have nasty side effects. I´m not saying this will happen to everybody but it´s what happened to me. Hugs! -Nat
April 19, 20179 yr Sorry about your terrible experience however now you have the first 72hours done.... Hope you are feeling more yourself.
April 19, 20179 yr I was wondering where you had got to. Sorry you've had a bad experience with it. I have heard that some people do and other's don't. Like all things, it works for some and not for others. I hope you start feeling better soon and stick with your quit Nat. Please check in with us & let us know how you're doing :)
April 20, 20179 yr What an awful experience! Thanks for checking in and letting us know you're still here. I did not react well to Zyban, either. Vertigo to the point I wasn't safe to drive. Or walk, really. There is no magic bullet to quitting.
April 21, 20179 yr That's horrible, Natalie. Wellbutrin XL helped me a lot but at the end of the day, it's still us making the decision not to smoke because the meds, even when they work, are only temporary. Glad you're better! :)
