December 13, 20169 yr I have to admit that I am having a rough day even though I am really trying to stay positive. Tiffany’s posts about her friend and worried Tiff will leave our forum for good, Jimmy’s sad year, and an 18 year old boy in our community died this morning of cancer. I didn’t know the boy, but from the posts I read, it sounded like he was an inspiration and a fighter. It’s so sad. Personally, I have been going through a really difficult time with my teen daughter, who is in a very unhealthy relationship. This morning is particularly hard after hearing about the boy with cancer. Life is so precious. I love both of my kids so incredibly much. I hate to see my daughter sad and struggling with this relationship, and I am so very sad that she and I are having conflict. It breaks my heart, and I am so at a loss of what do to. Then I also feel for her boyfriend, who I think was left alone a lot as a child, which left him with some very dark personal issues. I want my daughter across the world away from him, but I understand that she feels for him, wants to help him and wants things to work out between them. Anyway, I have to go. I’m running late. Hug your loved ones and tell them you love them. Thanks for being here QuitTrain friends. You are special to me.
December 13, 20169 yr Understand your position...believe me, been there done that. Unfortunately, the more you push, the closer she will get to him. You just have to believe you raised her right and that she knows she deserves the best life has to offer. Show as much compassion for the boy as you can muster and I believe she will figure things out on her own. Life is all about tests and lessons I am learning and the older our kids are...the less we are able to control. They are on their own path, not ours. Hang in there Petra...and try to see the good things. They are there...but the sadness sometimes pulls us into the abyss of negativity. There is just as much good on this earth as there is bad/sadness.
December 13, 20169 yr Sounds like your getting to deep into others problems. 18 year old was a fighter and stood up to it, leave him that way on your head. Don't be sad for a fighter who didn't die sad. Let him have his proud memory he wanted others to have for him Daughter, back your nose out a little. Enjoy her without him. Don't make her sad with your sad face about her sad face. That's a sad circle of repeated sadness. Take her out a laugh without him. Then she might open eyes to world without his problems. As for people on here. Again your no help being an anchor. Buck up buttercup. Your dragging us down without your own reason. No woo is me for no reason. I watched a sad movie and now i need a beer to laugh is a better way

December 13, 20169 yr Author Thanks, Quitters! Read way too many sad posts in a very short period of time this morning. Got out and about and am feeling much better. Also - I didn't mean rough day about smoking - my quit is solid - just clarifying that. ;) As for my daughter, yes, we're trying to stay positive and happy with her - some days are better than others.
