October 10, 20196 yr I went to see the nurse today about my recent blood tests. Coincidentally, I saw my doctor for another reason a week before I saw the nurse and he said that I should be taking an extra cholesterol lowering drug as well as statins. I suggested that we wait until the blood results before I decided to take the extra pill. The doc said the cholesterol level probably won't have changed much, if at all, but he agreed to wait. Well, knock me down with a feather, all my results had returned to a normal range and I don't need to be prescribed the extra one. Whilst I was there I told her about Quit Train and asked her to spread the word to potential quitters in her clinic.

October 10, 20196 yr That's so awesome, Phil. I'm really happy for you. Quitting smoking improves your life in so many ways.
October 10, 20196 yr I would never have linked smoking and cholesterol so thanks for posting about it.
October 11, 20196 yr How Is Smoking Related to Heart Disease and Stroke? Smoking raise triglycerides (a type of fat in your blood) Lower “good” cholesterol (HDL) Make blood sticky and more likely to clot, which can block blood flow to the heart and brain Damage cells that line the blood vessels Increase the buildup of plaque (fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances) in blood vessels Cause thickening and narrowing of blood vessels

It compares the previous bad results to the good ones. If it gives a new quitter who sees it on here an extra boost then that will be good.
