  7. Everwhere I look today and tonight all I seem to see is people smoking, first time I have posted on the SOS board but want to talk this pull out of my system. The desire to smoke comes on in a flash, and tries to hook me in, I hate this emptiness, I know there is no immediate cure, I know I have to fight the urge, overcome the desire, look away, but always seem to say to myself why is it so damn difficult, I don't want to smoke I want to be a long term quitter. Thank god for the long time quitters here, who I have walked beside, when I fell they fought back, so I know deep down inside that over time the thoughts and desires will go away, but I want this pull to stop and to stop now, I am fighting back but rather than fighting back inside I am using you wonderful people and your strengths to fight back with me.
  8. Rob there is no such thing as a sociable smoker that is just the junkie in you trying to justify itself, believe me I know because I have had those thoughts too, and I have had the relapses, you either want to smoke or you don't there is no inbetween, for me I no longer drink as I know that once my inhibitions are lowered I would reach for the smokes, and being a non smoker is far more important to me, put tonight out of your head in the morning, do not look back and lead yourself to a brighter and healthier life, you and your body deserve more. I hold on to the fact that all the long term quitters ahead of me tell me it gets better, and I have seen them wobble and seen them come through it stronger and more secure in the their quits, I want to be that quitter and I believe you do too.

  16. Hi Leila and welcome on board the quit train, congratulations to you on making the best decision you will ever make in your life and that is quitting, there are some wonderful posts here and plenty of advice, read as much as you can my lovely and start to re-educate yourself on the benefits of stopping smoking, the hardest part is done and that is making the conscious effort to quit, you need to remember that you are an addict and that you need to wean yourself off the nicotine, the first 72 hours is when the nicotine is leaving the system, but please remember if you can go 1 hour without a cigarette you can do 2, then 3 and then 4 a whole day, you are stronger than the addiction. Pledging to the NOPE every day is wonderful, even if you have to repeat NOPE to yourself every 5 seconds. if you are a cat lover you will get on well here, just watch out for Bakon he is a secret cat napper .....post as often as you can, we will give you all the support you need, you can do this we will help. So looking forward to sharing your journey with you xx

  21. It doesnt take much to re-awaken the cravings, I know that too, hard lesson to learn, we think its ok just to have "one" but it takes us straight back to where we don't want to be, doubting ourselves, do not doubt anything, all that you are feeling is just the addiction trying to sneak its way back in, shut the door in its face, do not allow it any room, fill your head with healthy thoughts, keep the feelings that you felt in your quit alive in yourself and remind yourself constantly that that is where you want to be you want to be a non smoker, be stronger than the addiction you know you can xx
  22. Happy Birthday Ava hope you have had a lovely day xxx
