  6. Well done @FinalAttempt! Glad you're getting exercise in as it'll help a lot. It'll more than likely happen again but remember it'll pass and you won't give in! Use any distraction you can think of that will get you through each craving. Keep fighting this and as the others have said, it'll get easier in time.

Nooooo all your hard work in those 9 weeks @Keith just gone! I'm sorry you had a tough evening and more difficult thinking of your brother. The alcohol lowered your inhibitions and your wife's cigarettes on display adding to the mix certainly didn't help. Have you identified what actually made you light up? Yes the cravings were there but you pushed them away before. Maybe it was the alcohol that made you think why not? Either way, do you have a plan in how to combat this moving forwards? You're not the first to lapse and you certainly won't be the last so don't give yourself too hard of a time BUT you're back at Day 1 again and you're going to dust yourself off and start again but with a better plan. You can do this! Thanks for sharing your experience as difficult as it is to admit defeat.

  12. I hope you're doing ok @FinalAttempt and the urge to smoke has gone.
  13. Preparation is key and it's good you've a month to plan. I'm assuming others at the golf course smoke, if yes, this is a part I'm working on for myself, being around others who smoke is hard. You'll be further into your quit by then and much stronger. I'm thinking of ways to stop temptations in Spring/Summer especially in social situations. Once I have some sort of a list I'll share and hopefully it may help you/others too. I understand what works for one may not work for another but it's worth a try! Regardless, we will not be smoking in the Spring or Summer
  14. Hey @FinalAttempt, you're doing so well not smoking especially when you were away! Absolutely do read the materials on this site, it really does help. I know sometimes the cravings can be stronger especially in the early days but you can fight this and I promise it WILL go away! Looks like you've already tried the boring distractions of clearing up/organising, if it helps, take a deep breath and slowing exhale, a few times and continue reading the helpful threads on here. I too still get strong cravings at times (although not as many as the first month) that don't go away as quickly as I'd like. I've even taken myself off to bed for a nap/cry/whatever lol but appreciate that can't be done at times! This will pass, I promise it will

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
