  7. Way to go, RnJ! I am so proud of you for picking today and following through. I think picking the Lord’s Day was brilliant! It’s a powerful Day for a time when you need strength. Stay close to the group. We are all here for you.
  8. I like Starbucks blonde roast or their Pike blend. I am not yet a connoisseur. I just like good strong coffee. My son gets his beans At Costco.
  9. Welcome aboard, Linda. I quit 12 days ago, so we are almost twins. LOL This is a great place to hang, if you want to keep your quit. Stick around, and enjoy the ride. I am proud of you and happy you found us.

  11. I believe we all have angels watching over us. In my case, I like to think that it is my great great Aunt Ellen, or Aunty, as we knew her. Aunty came here from Ireland as a teenager, and the desire of her heart was to be a nun. But God had other plans for her. Her sister and brother- in- law, who had 5 children, died within months of each other. So, she gave up her dream of serving God, and took on the responsibility of raising their children. When my grandmother (one of those children) grew up, and gave birth to my Dad, long after his father abandoned her, Aunty helped raise him, too. My Dad credited her with teaching him to be a good man. My Dad gave me her name, as my middle name, so I am Kathleen Ellen. Aunty lived to be near 90. I remember visiting with her, as a girl. She gave me my first set of Rosary beads. So, I have always thought that it is Aunty, who is my Guardian Angel, who watches over me, from Above.

  13. My brother-in- law was tethered to oxygen for several years before he passed away. My sister claimed that he suffered from some weird pulmonary condition, that he inherited from his father. But what I remember is him smoking for years, as did his father. So, was there really a strange lung disease, or was it his nicotine addiction that took his life? I should add here, that my sister is known for spinning tall tales.

  22. Yes. I use a French Press or do a pour over with my goose neck kettle, and a mesh strainer. My son, Ian, and I are both into making the best cup of coffee we can. It’s something special we have in common. We are both such nerds! 😀❤️
  23. Walking several times a day is a great stress buster. Any activity that requires using both the mind and body, helps distract from the stress. The brain cannot really focus on two things at the same time, so doing something constructive will short circuit the anxiety symptoms. When my anxiety gets particularly bad, usually when I am quietly at rest, I do what my therapist calls “square breathing”: breathing in through my nose to a slow 4 count, holding my breathe for a slow 6 count, and exhaling through pursed lips to a slow 8 count. I do it between 3 and 10 times in a row, until I feel calmer. It’s a great tool.
  24. I really wanted a cigarette with my morning coffee today. I could picture myself lighting up and enjoying it. I guess the psychological addiction is rearing it’s ugly head. I wasn’t tempted, exactly, but I sure did miss what has been part of my morning routine, for years. So, I have tried to make my morning routine special, in another way. My son gave me a nice coffee grinder for Christmas, which I hadn’t really tried out yet. So, I went out and bought some beans, and ground them , myself, for my morning coffee. Perhaps changing up my routine , a bit, will help me not miss that first cigarette of the day so much.
