  1. Congratulations Sal and Anita! This is wonderful news! YES!!! The people here are amazing and the fact the train exists and that I found it is the most amazing! Wishing you and your wife the best! KTQ!
  2. 3 months Sunnyside! This is amazing! You are amazing! Keep heading forward on your journey. KTQ!
  3. Ditto on Yoda’s response, @Brioski! You are doing exceptionally well. And I’ve said it so many times since I’ve joined QuitTrain: Every little thing you can take time to document on this site helps you and helps so many others. It’s why I took a seat. While lurking, I could read so many personal trials and failures and victories. They helped me so much. I knew that I wasn’t alone. I knew that others had been where I was at and that I was where others might be in the future. Write it out. For all of the future to see, so that they will KNOW.
  4. @DenaliBlues Fishing is not one that I had problems uncoupling from smoking. I never needed to smoke when I fished. Fishing is my ultimate destination, my ‘when and where’ that I can absolutely forget the world. I should’ve never smoked. Maybe became a professional fisherman. Hmmm.
  5. I’ve never heard it referred to as that and I’ve been going there at least once a year my whole life. That’s crazy. And anyway, the devil did come down to Georgia, but Johnny fiddled him a new one. So no hell ain’t here.
  6. Yes, the potato salad is really good. Also, love the fishing too. I guess I’m a pretty simple gal!
  7. Ohhh! This puts me in mind of the Reuben sandwich Cafe International restaurant right on the river in Helen Ga serves. On a cool fall day after hiking some trails and a spot of shopping? Perfect!!!
  8. I love corned beef and cabbage. I don’t get it often enough though. My mom made the best that I’ve ever had.
  9. Welcome @Brioski! 8 days quit is amazing! I’ve just recently reached the Lido Deck and I’m telling you this is completely doable! Stay focused! Stay quit! I’m thankful that you have support on hand, but remember there is almost always someone here and if absolutely necessary send out an SOS!!! I’m thankful that you have decided to join us!
  10. Congratulations QuitTrain and thank you to @MarylandQuitter!
  11. That’s all truth right there! Thanks @jillar!

  16. Congratulations on 9 months quit, Kris! It’ll seem like no time at all before you are on the Lido Deck! You are doing great!
  17. Congratulations @catlover! I know that you will be ready to hold those sweet babies as soon as they are home!
  18. Poor Boo. You didn’t even try to break his fall @Doreensfree!
  19. “Smoking is doing nothing for me. It is killing me slowly. Being here these pastfew days has helped me stay the course.” Your words one month ago! I believe you still mean every one of them! You are doing great! Congratulations on a whole months quit!
  20. Thanks everyone! I thought that I would have something profound to say on this day. But. I. Don’t. What I am is truly thankful and grateful for this train and each and every passenger that has ever been and/or is on board her. You have all had a grand affect on me and my quit. I’ve learned something from everyone here. Quitting isn’t easy or pleasant. I’ve had quite a few rough patches but I’ll say 8 or 9 months in—it was done. I was done. I’ve had no real issues or triggers since then. I’m just done with it. I used to smoke. I don’t smoke anymore.
  21. Will do!!! Looking forward to it!
  22. @DenaliBlues You. Are. Hilarious. Thank you!
  23. Sorry to hear that you are having health issues @Kate18. Definitely hoping that it’s a virus that’s got you down. Take care of yourself and please keep us updated.
  24. Happy Birthday @jillar!
  25. Congratulations @Sunshine that first month is a doozy! Stay with us and keep close and before you know you’ll be celebrating your first year quit!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
