    Day 3

Thank you. Congrats to you as well on day 3. It does seem a bit easier than I had pictured but I don't want to get over confident yet. I need to get through this weekend before I am ready to say that I am a non-smoker. That will be my true test. Thank you for the encouragement.
  2. I have just joined this crazy train and happy to be here.

    Day 3

As I begin the third day of not smoking I am faced with the hardest decision I will make during this journey. My wife is still smoking. So do I say it's okay if she wants to smoke in the house since it is so bitterly cold outside and it is her house too. Or do I just say nothing. I know she had to make the commitment to quit herself but I also know it would be so easy for me to buy a pack to "support her" which is just an excuse to go back. I know I am not going to give up what I have accomplished so far. I do not want to go through withdrawals again. My headache is finally going away. I did not get irritated yesterday. I am feeling even stronger today. So even though I love my wife with all my heart, I am not going to say anything. If she asks I will even tell her I prefer she didn't because it is still a struggle for me. I got this!!!! I don't know if it is support I get here or what but I am almost excited this time and confident I can make this quit stick!

    Feeling silly

Yes I have started the cleaning too. You are so right about the nervousness part. I didn't have it the day before but it was definately there yesterday and to some degree today. I just love all of the support I am getting here. It has helped me more than anything else. Still not using any aids and staying strong.
  5. I know it is silly but I feel excited and proud of myself for making it through the first day and nobody died!!!! LOL. My wife is quitting along with me but she is doing her own thing to make it. I am just happy to say I am on Day 2 without a cigarette.

    Day 2

Day 2 of my quit. Last night was a bit rough. I could feel myself getting irritated with stupid stuff. Today's focus is going to be not letting things irritate me as much. A week ago I was not easily irritated so I want to go back to that person. I feel good about myself. I know this is what I want to do. I have to remind myself that I am not suffering any kind of loss by not smoking. And I love what I read on someone's blog today "stop the craving early by telling yourself it is not an option and move on to something else." That is what will carry me through this first week.
  7. Thank you for the welcome. I have been reading some from the site. Lots of information here. I feel more empowered than I have on previous attempts. I KNOW I am going to quit this time.
  8. Edie, that cigarette you are thinking about smoking is NOT your best friend. It stinks and that rubs off on you. It makes you cough and wakes you up at night. You have control over cigarettes, they do not have control over you. DON'T SMOKE!! Sincerely, Edie
  9. My name is Edie and I have been a smoker for the better part of 46 years. I have attempted to quit many times before but I am doing things differently this time. 1. I am doing this cold turkey. I have read from many people that if you really want to quit for good this is the way to go. 2. I am using this support group. I have never done anything like this before and I am hoping that it will help with the urges. and 3. I have let those around me know what I am doing. I feel like by telling people in my circle I will be more accountable to them and won't want to let anyone down. I guess that is it for now.
  10. My first day to say NOPE not today!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
