I can honestly relate to everything that has been said above. Health reasons, getting out from under the control of the addiction reasons and just generally feeling better about myself as a person and for sure not wanting to have to go through the first week or so again. I am also at the point now, getting close to a couple of months quit, where if i wasn't tuned into a place like this I would probably be thinking; "Ok, I got this thing pretty much beat now but damit, sure would like to just try one for old time sake. Just to see what it was like. I could stop again after one because look how far I've come after smoking regularly all those years and that thinking would likely put me right back to square one again, just like it has for so many others. Reading all the stories of other people and what has happened to their quits after smoking just one or even just a puff has pretty much scared the hell out of me so that I just will not chance it. No way would it be worth it. Not after coming this far. Besides, I am just getting to the point where I really am not missing it as badly as I was the first while so why go back now?

I hear you ExTex. I'm pretty close to you in terms of quit time and I still struggle daily at times. Some days worse than others of course. I must admit though that it's not the same struggle I had earlier on. Easier to push aside now but it's still there. It's not going to be clear sailing for a while yet but I know, as I suspect you do too, that I'm not going to give up what I have invested to date in this quit. That would be the worst thing that could happen as far as I'm concerned.

Welcome Beata :) Sounds like you've tried a few methods to quit. They say getting the nicotine out of your system is a good thing but then again, lots of people use the patch and/or other quit aids. I was going to use the patch then forgot to put one on about day 3 and just went cold turkey from there. Can't say it was easy but as you probably have heard, gets the nico out of your body fast then the rest is mental. That part does take a while. different time frames for different people. The one hard and fast rule is don't cheat and take even one puff. Take the N.O.P.E. pledge daily (Not One Puff Ever). I think you'll be surprised at how important a role a forum like this can play in your quit. Really good to have others around you that are doing the exact same thing. No one in your daily life will be able to relate to what you are going through as we can so come often and interact. There's no judging here and you can vent all you want :) Look forward to following your non-smoking journey :)

She's gone for a tour of Lennon's boyhood house. Tickets went on sale for March April 2017 a while ago. I wonder if there's any 50 year old PB&J sandwiches still laying around?

Yes, I too have found it a huge advantage to be among others that are experiencing the same issues I am. Not sure I would still be quit without that support. Kind of odd when you think about it. People who will likely never meet each other yet are playing such a key role in helping you accomplish something so uniquely difficult.
