Gah! Those old night shifts....
The stars will still be there whether you smoke or not, though cigarettes might hasten your meeting. Right now these things are all connected to smoking, and so they all make you miss it. Over time you will break those associations, and come back to enjoy the stars and the sea as they really are, and not through a smoky haze.

Day 3 - Jason Vale Quit Smoking App
I think some people might assume you're here to spam the app, which wouldn't be well received, and I dithered at first. But I've decided you sound genuine, and the part about not sleeping and obsessive thinking and being astonished all remind me of me back then - every morning for months I'd be shocked all over again as I stepped into the shower without first lighting up, I'd say to myself "I don't smoke anymore" like a bewildered child. Not that children should smoke to begin with. Anyway. Here's a secret - your sleep will come back, and it will be AWESOME. Congrats on day 3, and welcome aboard.

I don't want to smoke 13 days before 1 year. SOS
You know what's even more dull and boring than life? The alternative. I'm curious though - when you say "I feel like smoking", do you mean you feel like smoking *one* cigarette? Two? One pack and then that's it, right back to where you are now, like it never happened? Or do you mean you want to be a smoker again, the way it was before you quit? Because if it's the first option I think you're a dreamer (and a romancer), and if it's the second one you're a madman (and a fool). There is no such thing as "just one" and you know it, that's why you quit. The only reason you're able to romance them now is because you're so far away from them that you're forgetting the reality. Smoke now and it's not just "one slip", the way I used to imagine it; it's a fall all the way back to the beginning of the nightmare. Don't just romance the memory, really remember it for what it was. Every foul, shameful, hopeless moment. I'd rather be bored. *edited to add:

The man who almost led Zeppelin*
That's the second time this thread (that I started) has compelled me to consult {{blech}} Wikipedia. The things I do just to bring great music to the masses.

The man who almost led Zeppelin*
We are old. Also, get off my lawn. There was an art to the "musical narrative" that tied an album together, a constraint within which freedom could be stretched. Like so many other things modern mainstream music has nearly killed. There, those are my contributions for dinner.

New Here
Read read read. I know it's a cliche, but education really is the key here. If you haven't perused whyquit, com yet, a lot of us found the materials there immensely helpful. Remember, they call the first one "Hell Week" for a reason - face it straight on, you'll be fine. Watch the blood sugar, fruit juice is your friend! Also lots of ice cold water.

The man who almost led Zeppelin*
Apparently. According to {{blech}} Wikipedia, he declined Page's offer due to the latter's rumoured "heavy reputation as a Crowleyan black magician"! Later turned down Deep Purple due to contractual obligations, and toured with the Stones but missed playing at Altamont where the Hell's Angels famously went berserk and killed the hippie era. There's also Jethro Tull and Fleetwood Mac in the mix, and I can totally hear both of them in his music, along with a lot of other stuff. I can't stop listening.

How come no one told me about him? When's the last time you listened to a whole album, front to back, over & over? * I just made that title up. Good huh?

Buckle up, the next few days might get a little hairy. Nothing you can't handle though, if you've lurked on the board then you know some of the characters that made it before you - it's not a high bar. Welcome aboard.
