7 days, 7x24 hours not smoked! I feel not too bad. In the evenings of my 4th and 5th day I almost had a chronic crave. It was not intens but it was going on for hours. Did not expect that but told myself it did not hurt, was not itchy. Just a feeling. Yesterday evening I had a very innocent thought as to smoke a cigarette. The thought I would have as a smoker. My eyes already at the coffee table where my pack normally would be. Do not remember having a crave at that moment. It frightened me a bit. But still not smoked since 2 November 12:00 o'clock. I bought some books to reward myself as I saved 87.5 Euro's. I will continue with not smoking today. NOPE. I wish you all a nice Sunday!

I don't know what ingredients are in the lozenges or whether there'd be long term use issues with the inside of your mouth or throat but seems to me if the lozenge packaging says you should wean yourself off them at some point, then that's likely what you should do. The other issue I would worry about is that as long as you are still craving nicotine, there's a greater danger of relapse than if you had kicked nicotine out of your life completely. The most difficult part of quitting is reshaping your daily life to exclude nicotine, not getting nicotine out of your body - that's fast; 3 days without and you're clean. My 2 cents is you should make a plan to wean off those lozenges very slowly and if you need to replace them with mints of some other suckable (sugar-free) candy. Do it before you develop a mental block that makes quitting nicotine a bigger deal than it should be.

Hi @tocevoD Yes, it would hurt because it's going from one addictive substance to another type of the same substance. Nicorette is only supposed to be used for a certain amount of time, not forever. It can be just as bad as cigarettes, if used for too long. Here are some of the side effects: increased blood pressure, heart rate, and a higher risk of metabolic issues like insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Long-term use may also cause other issues like persistent mouth irritation, sleep disturbances, and the potential for withdrawal symptoms if you try to quit later. My advice is to use the Nicorette the way it's supposed to be used and then go off of it. It can be done just like quitting cigarettes can be done. If you want to get rid of the addiction, you need to stay close to this forum because I know we can help you, but you must get rid of the lozenges.

Just on me way home from a music gig on the bus and this place just piqued my memory. Haven't been on here in a while. I've just been quietly trying my hardest for the quit again. Just checked in with my quit tracker and I'm at 4w 1d 7hrs. Had 4 pints watching the music gig and didn't feel the need for a coggies at any point. I'm eating nicorette fruit lozenges quite frequently. I think to myself I like the taste but I know it's because I like the nicotine aswell, they do have a lovely taste though. Anyway, my point is. I have been on off smoking for 35 years of my 48. Would it hurt to be addicted to lozenges knowing they are better than coggies and vapes. Vapes have never been for me. The lung damage could be just below ciggie levels when the damage is known later in life. Everyone on a vape is a guinea pig at the moment for them future findings. After 35 years of smoking my dependency to nicotine is going to be high. I have had people in the past saying "You shouldn't have too many lozenges." And "The advice leaflet says you should wean yourself off the lozenges." My question is, if I'm not smoking and I feel fulfilled and like the taste of the lozenges and they keep me away from smoking then is it that bad to be addicted to the lozenges? The smoking and all the harmful chemicals was what I didn't want from smoking. Surely eating lozenges is more preferable.
