The EU was formed after WWII as countries wanted to be apart of a larger safety net out of fears of another world war but I think the EU got far too controlling and took away your identity as a sovereign country. It will be a bumpy road for a while but you will survive just as you have done for thousands of years and you will be stronger for it! The rest of the world will just have to get used to it!

As far as I can work out, London is leaving the UK and making its own country - for bankers and politicians only: Scotland is off to join Europe (no view from Europe on that yet) and England and Wales are coming over to Lake Erie. June 25, 201610 yr I was surprised but pleasantly so. The background as I see it if you care :) Most remain people are using economic doom and gloom as the result and highlighting all the lies and misinformation through the campaign. This in itself will create some economic drama and certainly fuel the markets to be erratic. This has been standard throughout the campaign, referred to as project fear. The EU had long since overstepped it's mark and a great number of us have had to put up and shut up about that. Creating an over regulated and highly paid boys club (in my humble opinion). It's being portrayed as racism? In reality it was never about that but it's an easy way to target and shut up what was clearly the masses, accuse any comment as racist and no one feels safe and secure to say anything so continues quietly. The thing is, most of us voting expected to end up with a remain vote. Or at least I did, I thought I had a minority opinion! That's how closed off it had gotten here. The leave side, or my part of it, are saying of course people will trade with us. It may be a very messy extraction with 41 years together but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it, they no longer work effectively for the UK. When we first voted on this 41 years ago it was proposed as a trade agreement group. Anyone can see that it has long since gone way past that, with none of us able to influence anything that happens there. They vote each other into position. It suggests we have representatives but it's nonsense. It seems to go something like this. The boys club have a meeting before the EU votes and decide how they will vote - then when we as the UK send our chap in to vote he is outvoted, on every issue, by a group who have their own best interests at heart and we come home with nothing. In the background is running the TTIP thing, with both camps believing a vote for either side will protect our NHS which is actually a massive deal for everyone here. So it's been glaringly obvious on this point alone that there are many lies and mis truths in both campaigns. The guys running the In campaign were the PM Cameron and his side party leaders Corbyn. Cameron has just hit the working class and disabled people financially and tried to do it in quite a sneaky way. He is not liked at all by many! Food banks are very common here in many areas now with scores of people not able to afford the cost of living. His only claims to good are that he raised the amount we can earn pre tax and that we finally got this referendum. The out leaders are the ones most self respecting English baulk at. Nigel Farage who leads UKIP (Uk for the english people, awful chap, far too much and unrealistically dividing all people). Boris Johnson who was not too bad as Mayor of London I think but as a proper politician he just reminds me of a mad scientist. Spouts off and backtracks quite a lot. He's like that crazy uncle you have to invite to the wedding but don't really want there ya know. So who to follow was a tough one lol, what do you do when there isn't a strong candidate to follow which in my view is why we ended up so divided. We know they all lie?! I don't know enough about the economy to comment. House building companies are plummeting which suggests some house market fluctuation I would guess. The ftse 100 has rallied but the ftse 250 (which is possibly more reflective as it contains more uk based firms) has dropped. But we were on day 1 of a massive change that most weren't anticipating. Keep calm and carry on is what's needed, the British will get to that after an initial amount of whinging and calling for a re count/re vote. I do understand that the banks were heavily supporting the remain camp (and therefore the "we will all be in financial ruin" group) and so of course finances were hit. Then the bank of england chappie had to come out and say calm down, we have a back up plan. Personally I don't know if this reassures me. BUT, for me, even if we face a recession, I still believe we have done the right thing. The problem is almost half the country believes the polar opposite and with quite a lot of verbal vigour! It's cut throat in some conversation. Scotland and Northern Ireland are calling for their own referendums now to have the option of extracting from the UK and opting back into the EU. No sides have confirmed or denied this as yet. I don't know if this helps explain at all lol.

Let's keep voting till we get a remain result....then.... All the leave folks will want another vote. What happened to ....The people have spoken..... Were out....get over it....let's see what happens....stop the scare tactics....

Liverpool is known for being one of the deprived city,s...high unemployment...shortage of council houses ..ect... We have always been labour...our parents before us...labour... I was only 23 when we first joined the EU...so don't remember much I'm sure my parents were much more interested than me.. So Liverpool is not ...!! A Money city !!!....yet the vote was too stay in..... The national health service...needs a massive boost... Our parents fought for this... I am entering with a open mind...can we have a better life...I hope so...as Marti has said... Food banks....taking money of the disabled...the ones who need it the most... If these folks voted to come out...who can blame them...life is crap being in it... I say...let's give it our best shot...
June 25, 201610 yr It has some points but as an article it heavily favours the remain thought process. That those lower to middle classes, I guess that's me lol, voted for the wrong reasons. I don't dispute some people are idiots. I've seen idiotic comments like "good, shut our borders" and religious hate spouted - but those people do exist and they voted leave for a totally different reason. No one disputes that the UK independent party gained a lot of support (3.8 million votes last election) and Farage was one of those heading up the out campaign. There's also the Britain used to be great, we won wars etc morons. They also contributed to the out vote and really need a jolly good shake the muppets. We were not great. Germany and America recovered much better and quicker post 2nd world war, we were still mucking about trying to put in rules...... In 1975 we joined the EEC (what's now the EU). However they are still missing the primary point of many leave votes. It's the spirit of the UK that says we simply do not want to bow to bureaucracy. We are sick to death of being told to put up and shut up with policies we do not agree with. Some of us do blame immigration for the austerity we are seeing in the lower classes (not me), but more of us have seen we are being ignored and simply having to pick the best of a bad lot. There is a militant vibe to a lot of this and it's gaining ground for multiple reasons. Also a number of us are now looking to our governments saying now you have to hear us because we won't be shut up! Of course half the country is still whinging it's all unfair cause their side lost to racist dangler heads :)
