I still can't find us in the search engines!

And I was wondering how long it will take until we will shop up? Is there anything we can do - besides being on our best behavior :-)

We are so ready for all the smokers who want to quit...I just hope they can see and find us soon!

Hi Ladybug,

If you go to Yahoo or Bing and type this:

quit smoking support community

The Quit Train should come up on the first page.

Also, as we become fully indexed, we will come up at or near the top for other search words as well.  Just takes a little time.  ;)

TAC and I have spent a lot of time on this and the programmer/software developer that I pay (who is an expert with this particular forum software) has gone through the entire site and made some minor changes so we are exactly where we need to be.  :)

One thing that we will not do, unlike other forums, is create fake newbies to give false appearances to appear more active and "the place to be".  Too many times I had been previously tricked and spent my time and energy to help somebody who turned out to be a fake-o.

This will not happen here.  We have a very active membership here, more than any other forum that I see, and wait until the newbies start popping in.

I couldn't be happier with the way things are progressing.  :)

Fake Newbies?  That's hard to believe. Oh my Gosh I would throw my all to somebody pretending to be in need of my help....I would get so mad!

Thanks MQ

I know we just have to be patient...I know you all are working very hard...please let us know if we can help in some way...

The best way everyone can help is to get people to post links to http://www.quittrain.com from OTHER websites and facebook pages. That way, when the search engines visit that website, they will follow the link here, over and over again and that is good.

Currently there are about 40 "backlinks" to the Quit Train, but we need more, a lot more.

Thank you Nancy and all of you for helping.

Hi TAC,

Like Lady Bug said..  when i looked for "stop smoking support groups" or " stop smoking forums"  i couldn't find us either...

I was just talking with some friends about how words and phrase's are different depending on where you live ...

can you set Quit Train up so when folks look for  "stop smoking groups/forums" ? or "quit smoking groups/ forums" we will show up ?

i think it could give a wider range for people searching for a "quit community ".. but don't necessarily use the word or phrase  quit community" as frequently in their day-to-day.. some of us are country folks (like me).. if i hadn't been invited, i wouldn't know how to find it simply because of how i word things.   :)

We have lots of words and phrases that people will find us.  Quit Train is not what people will be looking for when searching to learn how to quit so it's not listed in the keywords because it's the name of the site and mentioned plenty for search engines to pick up.

Again, it's waiting now to get fully indexed.  This doesn't happen overnight but it will happen.  :)

Again, if I need to do anything, search for key words like crazy and click on links and things like that please tell me. I am here and willing (even if I don't have the faintest idea how this all works lol).

In our research regarding keywords, we found that the word "forum" is considered a "poison keyword" in the website promotion department. That is why we chose the word "community" instead. (we considered "group" as well but found it to be weaker and had to chose between one or the other, can't have both)

The word "support" however is used throughout the meta tags on this website.

We also found that the keyword combination "message board" has zero relevancy to quit smoking so we don't use that either.

Like MQ said, it will take time, anywhere from a month to a year in some cases.

The definition of Internet "poison words" can be found on any search engine if you are curious.

Sorry Bandit, I don't know anything about Twitter, hell I only learned about Facebook a year ago.

Still stuck in Old School thinking LOL
