April 18, 201511 yr My mysterious intensely itchy hives are back. Caladryl, Gold Bond medicated powder, Zyrtec, Benadryl and Doxepin do nothing. Last time they lasted 3 months and just disappeared. Thought it was a sulfite reaction, but can't be sure. Blood tests revealed nothing. There has got to be a stronger topical cream out there?
April 18, 201511 yr The last time I had a bad hive outbreak it took prednisone to be rid of them they suck big huge you know what
April 18, 201511 yr I had to take prednisone last time too. I feel bad for you, they are so uncomfortable. :(
April 18, 201511 yr Author Yeah, I think I am going to CareWell which is an urgent care walk in place for some prednisone. Last year when this happened, I went to my allergist and he ordered blood work and everything was normal. He put first put me on 4 24 hour Zyrtec everyday and when that didn't work he gave me doxepin which is heavily sedating and that didn't work too well.
April 18, 201511 yr Oh no Colleen! How uncomfortable. Because it is Spring and lasts for 3 months it certainly sounds allergy related. Grasses & trees are problematic for people at this time of year. Have you changed any products that you use for showering, shampooing or for laundry? Are you wearing Spring or summer clothing that has not been laundered since last year when you put them away? Is all soap residue well rinsed out of all your laundry....sheets etc? Have you tried a cortisone cream?

There are plenty of prescription creams that could help you. Triamcinolone is one of them. Feel better soon Colleen
April 19, 201511 yr Author So, I went to Urgent Care and saw a doctor, I was not impressed whatsoever. Usually, this place is good, but this guy made me wait two hours so he could tell me to take antihistamines. Um buddy, been all over that. He wanted to give a shot of Benadryl. He only looked at one spot. Went to the ER, three hours later, my allergic reaction is confirmed and am told the reason my throat is sore is I have hives there too lol. ER doc gave me a dose of oral steroids and a prescription. That was a lot of work!
April 19, 201511 yr dumbass dr too bad you cant send him the er bill it is not good to have hives in your throat....knew you would need steroids to clear it up even from over here and just from the description wtf
April 19, 201511 yr Glad you got it straightened out but what a pain. Yeah, in the throat doesn't sound good at all. Hope they work their magic quickly!
