March 8, 20251 yr Author Gday It came as a cat 1. Thank god! Lots of rain and wind. We didn’t do too bad as lots don’t have electricity we do. Water has to be boiled but you can live we that. Problem is that it had stayed at briby island just north of us and is picking back its strength. We are having a gale tonight. Can’t get to much more rain as it means flooding. March 8, 20251 yr Author Gday Im safe but tired. 2 days and nights of rough sleep. The poor old house is full of strong noises the wind gusts are constant. Bands of rains get blown sideways into the east side of the house. It’s early here. Too dark to check the yard yet so I’m hoping for a little sleep before it’s properly light

March 9, 20251 yr I know it's very scary. Back in 2012 we had Hurricane Sandy here in NY and it was terrifying. Thankfully my block wasn't affected with flooding or losing electricity, but many parts of my neighborhood had bad flooding and were without power for a long time.

March 9, 20251 yr Author Gday soaked but safe. Alfred turned in to a low that stuck around. We got over 300 mm rain yesterday! Now that’s 12 inches. Crazy. At least the wind dropped but we will be facing a lot of local flooding. I suspect we hear a lot more today. No work for many as we are a city that has a lot of public transport. No trains buses or ferries. I’ve talked to my boss and I can by various routs get to work by car but he says stay a home. I didn’t argue
