Alaska Update

Featured Replies

So sorry for not being very present lately, life has gotten crazy.  Still smoke free but let me just say the stress is on!!  We moved up our pcs date (for those who don't know we are Army moving to Alaska) to November ( we will start driving early/mid October) and leaving in 4 months now instead of 6.  Boy what a difference that makes.  We have so much stuff to get accomplished prior to leaving on top of simply getting command sponsored in the first place (no big deal but lots of health physicals ).  I do think of everyone often and am so proud of everyone daily.  I might make a journal/thread to post in to keep you updated on our journey, should be interesting at times Im sure!

Mel, it all sounds so exciting and scary at the same time! Are your boys looking forward to it? I imagine if I was a young boy, Alaska would be one of those places where growing up, everyday would be an adventure :)

I hope that those 2 months don't cause you too many extra troubles, and I S&M glad that you are smoke free (even though I knew you would be!).

You should take all the time you need, and just drop in when you can. We are all thinking of you and miss you though :p

Personally I would really enjoy it if you made a journal type thing, but no pressure ;)

Hope everything goes as smooth as possible for you and the family during the big move. I know it can get quite stressful. Holla if you need to vent. Let us know how it's going. We want pics of Alaska.  :)

Awesome to "see" you Mel!  I cannot imagine the stress involved in moving to Alaska with only 4 months to plan.  Alaska is close in terrain to Maine, a bit colder and we don't have polar bears!!  My brother lived there a few years, working on the boats.

Is your family keen on the outdoors?  Hunting and fishing?  It does not get any better than Alaska for that.  :)

A thread or journal would be awesome!  Pics too!

Oh, Mel...so glad to see you and the fact that you are still quit is wonderful!  If you can, blog on your experience.
Would love to hear about it and pictures wouldn't hurt either, hint hint.

Mel - would love to hear all about it ... Alaska sounds awesome and I hope the fact that 100 + of you quit buddies are already planning their visits to you - doesn't add too much stress a0d0423989cfe63dbac86525c36d6b54_zpsff34

Oops did I say that out loud - I think we were meant to be keeping it as a surprise !

Pics will be doable :)  I plan on taking them the entire drive since we are traveling from the East Coast, Virginia, all the way up.

Ava Im sure we could squeeze you in :)

Jenny the hubby and sons love all the outdoors stuff.  I can't wait to go fishing and have the fresh fish all the time.  I think that is what I am looking forward to the most.  The bears are a little scary though to be honest.  I don't think there is polar bears where I am going but there are definitely  black and brown bears.  A spouse was attacked on post just a few weeks ago while jogging, she was too quiet and ended up too close to a mama and her cubs.  She was lucky to survive...yikes!!!

Wow. What an adventure!

Look forward to pictures...

Especially of a family jog, all singing your heads off (to scare the bears!)

And..as an Air Force brat...Thank All the family for your service. People sometimes forget that all the family make sacrifices.

When in the ARMY we did air defense missiles. Used to salute Air Force officers with "If it flies, it dies SIR" Our 1st sgt made us and it was fun.

Melody ditto to all of the above and would love to keep track of all your adventures to Alaska, pics too, whilst being a Forces child the further adventure I got to was Malaysia, different end of the spectrum lol xx
