November 2nd and the Bushfires have started

Featured Replies

Looks like we Aussies are in for a long bush fire season this year. It started today with a suburb of Canberra being on Watch and Act and having its school evacuated for over 12 hours today. Doreen's Nicky is safe and this post isn't going to send her into a tizzy. 2 November is very early for fire season to kick off.. we also had fires in NSW, Victoria and SA today... my brother is off at the Naracoorte fires which are still not under control but threatening vineyards... so they better pull their fingers out (sorry Aussie black humour... when the shit hits the fans we make lame jokes)..... there are 2 huge fires at the top corner of Vic that are burning out of control in a national park and may join but at this stage there are no threats to communities.... The Canberra ones are the closest to communities but the risk has been down graded even though they are not under control yet.... So what caused the fires... lightening strikes... doubtful, Canberra it was a burnt out car... the others it is looking like a fire bug, especially the ones here.

Now Australia is a tinder box this year... huge parts of the country are in horrendous drought... it was a pretty dry winter.... but such an active fire day so early in the year is a big worry.

Good luck to all the folks down under.

As a show of respect, I'm not even going to make a dirty joke about the term "bushfire."

Good luck to everyone there Jo, hope you all stay safe.

That sucks, Jo...California had a fire bug this year...we had a few fires close to home this year, too. The regrowth is beautiful tho!

Stay safe and away from "fire bushes" as they tend to be fiesty?

Thank you Jo...for the reasurrence..... Thankfully my Nicky is out of Danger...

Praying they get it under control as soon as they can....

It is early to be having a bush fire....

Stay safe you lot Down Under...x
