  1. You’re setting yourself up for success by taking a close look at your fear and vulnerability, Gene. It’s good to be prepared, it will help you protect your precious quit. When push comes to shove, you might not even feel tempted to smoke, like Jillar said. But if you do have cravings or longings, that’s ok. Smoking was part of your social life and ritual life for a long time, so it’s natural to miss it. You can acknowledge those feelings without having to act on them. Have a great time, be joyful with your friends… and don’t stick anything in your mouth and light it on fire!
  2. Well done! Congratulations on your five years of freedom!
  3. Happy anniversary, Chris. Love your daily photos!

  14. Howdy, @Deggit. Welcome to the Quit Train! We’re glad you’re here and we are ready to help. Why you still smoke is actually not a mystery… you are not weak, your brain is chemically addicted. For that reason, withdrawal sucks at first and it’s hard to think clearly about quitting. But that’s temporary. Such good things lie ahead! What’s your plan?
  15. Yeah, I think Chris is seeing if we’re paying attention, LOL…
  16. Best wishes to your mom for a continued recovery, Sandi! I totally know what it’s like to smoke your way through a crisis… it does no good for us or the people we’re trying to support. It makes us less present, less focused (always preoccupied with getting our next fix), and more anxious. Good on you for keeping your quit!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
