Getting bad news at the doctor's office is the big fear of every smoker. What's rarely thought about by smokers, it goes practically unnoticed, is the general malaise that is part and parcel of being a smoker. Long before any terminal prognosis, the effects of poisoning yourself intermittently all-day everyday takes a toll on your general well being.
I didn't have any serious health concerns when I quit. "I feel pretty good...for now." What I wasn't seeing was the potential to feel much better. I didn't really feel good when I was smoking, I just felt normal. Normal for a smoker. It wasn't until I quit that I really began to feel truly good again. It's one thing to tiptoe through without stepping on any landmines for one more day. It's an altogether different experience to actually achieve your physical and mental potential.
