  1. Happy birthday Colleen - hope you have a great day!
  2. Hey DF, well this sounds kinda sucky... I know everyone is different, but a whole heck of a lot of people struggle around the 3-4 month mark - something about no mans land... Where your quit isn't exciting and new, people have stopped telling you how proud they are, and you start to wonder if you'll ever feel normal, and is it even worth it?! Yep, I was there myself at around 3 and a half months quit. It's a hard time, but it is doable! And ontop of all that stuff, your brain is trying REALLY HARD to get you to smoke just one cigarette, as it knows that this quit is serious, and it knows it has to try to do something about it. Also, you may be forgetting just how crap smoking was - the smell, social stigma, cost, cough, bad skin, shortness of breath, tiredness, and the constant, continuous state of withdrawal! You've heard this a hundred times already, but this DOES GET BETTER... And until it does, we will be here to help you through and try to distract you! Stay really close to is, and read and post like your life depended on it (because it kinda does)... Big, big (((hug)))

  4. Lovely and extremely accurate post! Please do not think of yourself as 'only quit 3 days' (you don't smoke, same as me, no different) or that you aren't able to give advice to others - you are in the early stages of your quit, and probably more qualified to give advice than anyone else at this point in time! And you really don't need to worry about feeling crappy or having constant withdrawals after weeks/months/years - if that were really true, we would all be a bunch of raving lunatics by now! It really does just fade away over time, until you will go an entire day without thinking about cigarettes - and that will be the first day of many - sometimes I go weeks without even thinking of smoking, and craves are next to never for me at this point! The smell of cigarettes early in my quit made me feel a little ill, so I did try to avoid it as much as possible to be honest! Personally I think you are doing GREAT, but any time of the day or night that you need to vent or moan or cry or scream, then we will be here for you - we've all been where you are right now, and we all came out the other side, and not a special snowflake in sight ;) Hope you have a great day :)

  12. Yes, agree with this! Jeffrey, I almost missed yours today save the fact that I had it written down at work! Please add your celebrations to the calendar - all that hard work should be recognised! :)

  20. Hi Rowley, I did not experience this, no. Has this happened when you quit in the past, or is this a 'new' thing?

Aww Gabby, I'm sure you will be absolutely fine! I had one myself a few months back, and it wasn't so bad. But I know how daunting it can be beforehand! ((Gabby))
  22. Ummm beacon, I can't see your nice pink QT ticker...!
  23. Well done Evelyn! NOPE!
  24. Thanks for the explanations, guys! I think I would call them burr's too. Sue, I remember those! Used to throw them like darts when I was a nipper at school! Petra, your dog is so handsome!
  25. My first excuse (and I still remember saying it) was that I was not addicted to smoking, and that I could quit anytime I want, but that I enjoyed it too much...! Ridiculous! My second excuse (after I could no longer tell myself the first one anymore) was that now wasn't the right time, and I was 'too stressed' to quit. I wish I knew than what I knew now - smoking does not alleviate stress! The last excuse was that I didn't spend 'that much' on smoking - well, I inly need to look at my ticker to see that they is a lie I was telling myself! I'm glad that I finally was able to see through all the lies, and I have all you good people to thank for it!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
