  7. Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve! I am Karen AKA Tigger982005. I found this group on Facebook. I was a member of Quitnet years ago when I quit smoking. I am 20 years without a cigarette and am greatful for the online support I have had, especially in the beginning. I am looking forward to pledging everyday and supporting people here.

  9. Welcome!! I am still a newbie with my 7 week quit. But I totally get your tiredness of the cigarettes. I have smoked for ~45 years before I was brave enough to quit. But not after I searched the internet and found this forum and the website whyquit.com. Read as much as you can. Understanding the addiction to nicotine and what nicotine as a chemical is doing to your brain and body was extremely helpful for me to get over the tough times. There are -also via this forum- a couple of helpful video's on how to navigate the first days and to minimize the side effects of withdrawal. Don't think that it is harder for you because you smoked such a long time. There are people on this form who also quit after a long smoking history and they succeeded. Yes, the beginning is tough but it will get better. It takes time (and patience), but it will get better as long is you do not get any nicotine into your body. Writing about your quit is helpful too. If not on this forum, keep your own little diary. Especially looking back and see what you have achieved already is fuel into your quit. Quit smoking is a gift to yourself! But give yourself rewards for the fact you have not smoked. Be nice for yourself. Spend the money you saved to something nice or fun. Did I already mention that no longer having cold feet all the time is sooooo comfortable? I know there is much more but that was the first improvement I noticed. And actually pretty quick after quitting. Let us know how you get on. There is a lot of support here!

  15. Hi, I quit cigarettes 6 years ago and I’ve been using lozenges ever since. I just quit lozenges today because they were causing problems with my teeth and gums.

  19. Gday Yes same system is being set up in Australia. I’m putting my hand up being a forty year smoker. Count me in. With lung cancer by the time you get symptoms you’re advanced and it’s not treatable. Lost a couple of mates to lung cancer it’s serious and fast. One min your getting your mind around it and the next min they are gone. I’ve had couple of serious cancers and realise that I’m mortal but I’m not ready to go yet. And not for something that’s treatable if found early. Bring it on I say
  20. It says take the picture …. Quik ….cause this is gunna happen
  21. G’day NOPE .....Not One Puff Ever.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
