You may remember Del passed away last September, well after meetings and communication we took the information we discovered to the Medical Ombusman. Their investigators contacted us, today, and they have decided that the hospital failed in their care for our Del. We are glad in one way, that they are accountable and will be made to put things in order so that it doesn't happen to anyone else, yet it's sad as had they not failed to manage his seizures he is likely to still be alive.

I think we have a fabulous system in our country, and some fabulous doctors, and excellent nurses. Just very unfortunate that Del was in a place where it wasn't quite to the standard expected. We are now just waiting for the letter to confirm what's what, and what the trust need to implement to prevent it not happening to someone else.

Been a horrid long year but worth it, if it prevents it happening to someone else.

I'm so sorry Sharon.  It's good you have answers and that they will be held accountable but how terrible that it happened at all.

Big hugs to you my friend.

Have I mentioned how lovely it is to have you with us again.  :):)

(((( Sharon. )))))

It has been a long and sad journey for you and the family....

Pleased to hear you have had the correct result....

I agree....it is good to have you back amongst us....

Hugs xxx

Sad news and I am sorry for this.  Good for you pursuing so they can help another person

Thanks guys, yes it is not about making a claim as money doesn't bring Del back. That why the Ombusman seemed a better idea, than a solicitor, as it about holding them accountable and they legally have to make changes. Who knows our loss might prevent someone else's...fingers crossed.

Been horrible, really has, as you have to keep reliving it. At least now we are at the finishing line...report will be dispatched in January.

You did a good thing and you can carry that, in honor to Del, for the rest of your life.  Warm hugs.

I'm sure it provides comfort that you are helping save other lives...but so very sorry for your loss.

Hopefully you are able to have some closure now. So very good to see you again - I hope you and your family are able to have a merry Christmas this year.

Very tough times my friend. Late to the thread I know but I wanted to commend you on following it through. Hope it brings some peace of mind that they will have to make improvements now. xx
