 They made me a very generous offer to consult for about a year fro them and a payout at the end.  I am fortunate.  Need to be positive.  

Fear of change is normal ... And this is a big change ! But it sounds like you are negotiating a really positve outcome there ... You can do this ...and I am so happy you are making such a positive change :-)

You should be very proud for taking such a hard step. I think it is the right one!

Well finally my last day was yesterday. They had a party for me and it was very nice. I feel sad now and untethered.
