Had my 5th radiation treatment Monday about mid-afternoon. Experienced another sudden spell of extreme exhaustion Monday evening around 7:30 or 8:00 PM. It seemed worse than the first one and lasted longer.Was still very lethargic all day Tuesday so basically did nothing other than I had to cut the back lawn yesterday afternoon. That normally takes me about a 1/2 hour but took almost an hour yesterday cuz I had to stop and rest a couple of times before I could finish it. Taking it easy today as well as I have my 6th & 2nd last radiation treatment tomorrow. I have an appointment to speak with the oncology doctor tomorrow right after my rad. session. Not sure what the discussion will be about but hoping for some kind of indication about how the treatments are going. I'm pretty sure they can see something about what's going on when they do the treatments? We'll see tomorrow. Hope I don't get whacked again later tomorrow with another spell of exhaustion but even if I do, at least that'll be the sencond last treatmenrt so I'm getting to the end of this process 🙂

Glad you are on the countdown to being done @Reciprocity.Hang in there. The fatigue side-effects are no joke, but they are thankfully transient. Hope you get the spring back in your step soon!

Had my 6th radiartion session today. Only 1 left next Monday. No terrible effects so far tonight, although I still feel a little dozier than normal from session 5.

I was pretty disappointed though with my meeting with the Oncology Doc after my session today. I thought he would give me some sort of indication on how things were going but Nope! He wasn't willing to say anything basically when I asked him how things were looking. He simply said that after the radiation treatments stop, the radiation keeps working in your body for up to 3 months afterward so he will schedule a CT Scan for around 3 months from now and then we will have a telephone meting to reviw the results of what he sees on that CT Scan.

He did say that he hopes to see a blackened nodule with a bit of lung tissue scarring around it. ie: he would consider that a successful killing of the cancerous tissue. He also warned me that at some point in that 3 month period I may develope a persistant cough and if that happens I should call him (his office) and he will perscribe a 10 day regime of Prednisone that should take care of that.

Great! Something else to watch out for 🙄 I asked him how I would know it wasn't just a cold due to the changing seasons as that can be a real issue going into autumn. He said ..."You'll know!" Oh my, that sounds ominous😶 I'll just hope I don't have to find out!

At least the treatments will be done and you made it through unscathed.

Arnt Docs grand. Don’t mention the side effects do they! Not until they appear then they deal with them.

We are all different. So the effects are different I suppose.

Survived a couple of cancers now. The secound was a skin cancer that was surgically removed then moped up with radiation. Moped up… sounds pretty easy!

Will not give you the details but like you experience the radiation was shot from different direction to a centre point. The centre point was the cancer. Damaged cancer cells that were weak anyway and the rads did them in. The good cells received lots less rads and were able to grow back from the damage. Takes time. And truely just give it time.

Secound thing is the docs don’t use that four letter starting with C.

You know the one …..CURE.

You’ll get the word …. Slowly …. You’re now NED.

Don’t let spect a carrot either. Your ….No Evidence of Disease.

Then if your a really good patient you can progress to….. In Remission!

I asked my GP if I could come of the 6 monthly tests for the first cancer. It’s 10 years now surely!

He said no you have prove you don’t get the cancer back by dying of something else first!

Really……. Yes this conversation did take place. My plan is to outlive him. game on!

Reci. The worst is over. I’m so glad you’ve been found and treated early. Lung cancer has such a high death rate cause it’s basically to hard to treat once you have symptoms.
