Definitely. I mean my mom keeps cigs in her room cause she smokes in there but I am going to try my best to stay away from her room

Well, @shy you and I lead very similar lives, with regard to quitting, and quitting with Chantix, in addition to having a mother who smokes, we both live with our Moms, well sort of! My mom and I own a two family house.  She lives downstairs and my family and I live upstairs. But, you get the picture, and to make a long story short, I can smell her smoke in the common hallway because smoke rises.  So, it hasn't been easy, but I have gotten through it, and YOU WILL TOO!!!! 👍 As I said a couple times earlier, VISIT THIS SITE EVERY SINGLE DAY, (SEVERAL DAYS, AT LEAST!)  DO IT, YOU CERTAINLY CAN!!!👍

Well I have an update. I still have not stopped smoking but today I am going to do this! I'm picking up my first inhaler later and it's just got me in my feelings. Like I have really messed up my life from smoking and I'm angry at myself that I never stopped a long time ago. Smh. I HAVE to do this now. I want a better quality of life. I hope you are all doing well and thank you.

Thanks for the update @shy and I understand that you're angry at yourself that you didn't stop smoking a long time ago however you are commiting to do so now and that's what matters! 😊

When you feel like you're going to give in to a craving, I'd suggest reading your own words in your message. "I HAVE to do this now. I want a better quality of life"   You do, and you deserve to! You can do it! 😊

It's going still no luck on quitting but I will say today I woke up with a new sense of self and I really think today is the day. I'm smoking what I plan to be my last cig as I write this. Thank you for the support!

Not yet. I will say I don't really crave them like before it's more or less the ritual at this point so I'm trying to stay busy like weeding and cleaning at the times I usually smoke and it's helped me cut back tremendously. Soon soon I feel it 😁

I think today would be a good day to quit @shy 😉 It's good you don't crave them like before and when you quit you'll have started the process of getting healthy and living life nicotine free!

Keep posting on this forum and you'll receive amazing help as and when needed, you won't be going through this alone. 😊

Staying busy is a good tactic @shy. We've all been where you are - being tired of the grip smoking had on us but feeling very fearful of quitting, and trying to bargain/reduce our smoking, instead. But the only surefire way to stop smoking is... to actually stop smoking. By weaning yourself down you're basically keeping your brain chemistry in a constantly activated state of withdrawal that's longing for its next fix. Counterintuitively, you may feel way better once you let yourself get through that early withdrawal stage and start to feel free and clean. It feels like a big leap, but the distance may be shorter than you think. And we're all here to catch you and help you along the way. Just let go of the smoking and fall... UP!

There will never be a good day , smokers will always find a excuse to smoke

We are addicts

The only way to free yourself is just stop

Never Take Another Puff

Cutting down is agony… you just wait for the next time you can calm the monster down

Take it from a 52 year smoker , who tried every way to quit and failed

I succeeded when I promised never to take another puff , this place ,

I know you can do it , you just have to believe it yourself 🐸

Thank you all for the kind words. I am truly trying. I threw myself into some projects cause I relapsed on alcohol and weed but I'm a week sober now. I did end up getting nicotine gum to help with cravings. But I will not take another puff. 5:30 tomorrow I will be 24 hours smoke free I will def let you know. Again thank you all it means a lot to know I have support here. 😀

Good for you @shy. Attaway to turn things around! Yes, every hour you don’t smoke is a big victory. They add up fast!

I, too, occasionally used nicotine gum/lozenges as a temporary tool while quitting. Way better than smoking or vaping, when used to protect your quit.

Let us know how you do during those first 24 hrs.

Well I did good until about 5 mins ago. I accomplished something I have been needing to do for a long time and smoked in victory and since I havent had any in awhile it tasted disgusting 🤢 so I truly believe that's it for me my 24 hours starts now again. Thank you all for the support and I will def keep you posted

Have you considered using a patch or

nicotine Gum to help you along .

You have to use it carefully. But it might help you over the first hurdle 🐸

Quitting for someone else, can make you resentful.  Quit for you, and to make your life better.

Give it a go, and reward yourself, with lots of treats 😊

@catlover I see your point and you are right it could. I have to find out what kinda treat to get myself after the first 24 hours. I cut out sugary ultra processed junk food and soda about a week ago when I quit drinking and weed again. I'm very low maintenance lol. Not into gadgets or toys. Maybe something simple like coloring or something. I used to be a very good artist. Maybe go back into that.

Yes, coloring sounds great, and keeps hands busy, that’s a win.

i gave myself small treats often, after all, I wasn’t spending £1O a day on cigarettes, so it mounted up quickly. At the end of my first month, I bought myself a Fitbit, as I was walking more. Exercise is great, getting out in the fresh air and going for long walks.  Art materials, new clothes, books, or finding a new hobby to engage in.

Good for you eating healthier. I have done the same, since April 1st this yr, cut out a lot of rubbish from my diet, UPF crap mainly, feeling loads better and lost weight too …😁
