February 6, 201511 yr The lump on Alex's knee is a Seroma... it is a fluid sac. Seems as though the knots on the stitches have come "un-tucked" from whereever the vet tucks them. When she walks the knots of the stitches are rubbing up against the tissue and this fluid sac is forming. Not too bad of news ...could be alot worse. The vet told me to "massage it"... to see if it can be absorbed into her leg. Yeah...she loves it when I touch it. Anyways....if it does not go away in a couple of months...or if it gets any larger, I will have to take her back to have the Vet cut it open and drain and then take out the stitches. I should have my own wing in this vet by now. O well...like I said... could have been alot worse.
February 6, 201511 yr Author This is very good news....it could indeed have been a lot worse.... Still bad though ...poor Alex.... I bet she will love that massage ....not.... Hopefully it will work...she will not be happy with more surgery... Thanks C....for the update....
February 6, 201511 yr I should have my own wing in this vet by now. Isn't that the truth!! The amount of money we spend is stunning. And having a good Vet is worth every penny. I hope Alex heals soon!
February 6, 201511 yr I have helped fund a few vets' retirements. Sure wish we could give our animals SS numbers and claim them on our tax returns... So glad to hear about Alex, while not great news, so much better news than it could have been. Good luck with the massaging!
February 6, 201511 yr I am so glad that it is nothing serious! LOL My stepmother is a vet which helps with the equine part of my ownership. The dogs and cats I take locally and like you I hould have gone to veterinary school because they own me.
February 7, 201511 yr Hugs to you and your furry girl! She will feel better soon. Dogs come back quickly once they get through the stuff. :) We have a rescue dog with a bad leg that surgery couldn't fix. Cold days are definitely hard on him, but he still runs around like a crazy person.
April 10, 201511 yr Alexandra is doing good. She is getting back to her old self. She gets a bit sore when she runs for a while...and then shuts down for a couple of hours. But I think she just needs to build up her knees again. I know she will never be the same...but she is back to having a good life. It is alittle unnerving to look at her and see scars on both knees... but she is good. Thanks for asking. This is a pict I took of her the other night...
April 10, 201511 yr Aww she isn't shunning the camera! I'm glad that she is doing so well! :) Yeah...I tricked her. She was looking the other way... i put my phone up and then called her name. Ha...I am just slightly smarter then dog!!!
April 10, 201511 yr Author Thanks Chrispy... What a brave dignified lady she is..... She's been through a lot....but it was nice to see her looking more happy....xx
