Good place to vent about life

Featured Replies

This is not so much a vent....  Not sure what it is.....

Today my family is on stand by.... My uncle went in for over the top back surgery this morning at 10:30am our time....

8 hours later and he is still in surgery...  It is major, there are like 5 different surgeons participating in this proceedure... apparently it is a full house with all the other players added in.  We hope that he will be able to walk again,

3 months ago he was walking 5 miles a day...

thanks for listening!!!

Thinking about your Uncle!

  • This is gonna come accross as bitchy but: I take pleasure when someone who will not listen to any of my help/advice at work makes a huge mistake! I have tried and tried to help but if you don't want t

  • All went as well as possible...  we will watch over the next couple days to see the outcome....           He has a long road ahead...   thanks for alll the responses

He can not walk so far.. but at least he seems to be in less pain,,, and has a positive attitude

Dang Scott, that is a long road ahead.  =/

Sending positive vibes toward you and your family.  Glad he is keeping positive.

Hugs to Scott and his family!

Ok today I wanted a cigarette....all of a sudden, I had this empty feeling in my mouth that I wanted to fill with smoke? WTH? Where did THAT come from?

I thought about this weird feeling for a minute....and actually allowed myself to think "well, I could if I wanted to.... who's going to stop me?".

And then, I realized.... nah, I KNEW....that I'd rather hit myself in the head with a tire iron than stick a cigarette between my lips and light it.
:D

Oops...wrong place to post this, I guess...but it's stuck here now, huh?

Christa...step away from the tire iron....

Well done. Ninja craving. Appear from nowhere. Well beaten! :)

Nice job Christa kicking nicotine butt, as usual!

just a little vent about my wife's employer...she is scheduled to work every other week-end and this one is hers..never mind that she has mandatory overtime every week on top of it  :(  ..   we have planned to spend Easter next week-end with the girls, so they are spending time at the in-laws...my youngest (only one not married) is coming home today (from Michigan) to spend the day with dad..I have great kids...(all of yours are ok, but mine is great  ;) ) but that doesn't change how i feel about my wife's employer.....just venting....carry on  ;)

Adult children who are only adult in age, suck.

The 25yr old is in a pissy mood and wants to play victim-child, the 24yr old (the one with the baby) is being an arrogant know it all and wants to educate everyone within earshot about vaccines and breastfeeding, and the 21yr old believes that the world revolves around her.

I'm going to eat myself into a food coma so I don't have to listen to them.

Lit a candle for your uncle, scott, that sounds very harsh although I'm pleased he is remaining positive. xx

Got sent out to buy cigs for my mum today. Tried to say no but she's unwell and screamed in front of my kids again, I hate that for them. For some reason she thinks I am trying to control her??  All I said is if you're well enough to smoke, you're well enough to go buy them yourself - but she's not. I really hoped she might just say oh f it and leave it, so still my house is gonna smell of 2nd hand smoke because she's not well...with a smoking related illness...and smoking. Grrr.

Aww Marti. Tough. You cannot do right for wrong. Keep patient - and keep positive. We all think you are awesome. (Sure Mum does too)

Sorry Marti, that stinks that your mom puts you in such a position.  Wish I could help.

Seriously don't know what's wrong with my oldest girl. SO mad at her.

She spent the day being sullen, blaming others for her lot in life (ohmygod!!)

She wracked up a $6k credit card debt, is angry we won't give her any money and blamed me for not teaching her to manage money better.

All at the Easter dinner table.

I'm freaking furious.

Bless you, Julie!  I would probably go in search of a automatic weapon....or at least get out my tennis racket...

While I love my oldest daughter (Babs's older sister) dearly, I hate the fact that she still smokes. Babs and I have tried and tried to (gently) steer her towards quitting, but so far, no luck. We went there for Easter brunch, and the smell of smoke hit me like a ton of bricks (she smokes outside, but her husband smokes in the house).

I hate the smell, and I hate hate hate what she's doing to herself....

But there's nothing I can do about it. I'm in the same position as Marti is with her mother....helpless. It sucks.

Remember how you felt before you quit?  In my experience, someone could have nagged me for a month of Sundays and it still wouldn't have convinced me to quit.  Those in our lives still smoking, I think have to see how much more enjoyable life is without a cigarette.  The best you can do is be that shining example of a successful quitter.

oh Julie that's rubbish for your lovely family dinner. Hope she sorts herself out soon. x
