I lost my first 12 lbs!!!
Thanks Guys! I want to lose my quit weight, and then some. But I am proud of myself. I've always been fat, but at least somewhat healthy fat. Once I gained all the weight from quiting, I was just miserable and couldn't walk without huffing and puffing and I know it wasn't because of the side effects of quiting smoking! This too, I'm taking one day at a time. I can count the calories and walk the walks ... one day at a time. I'm pretty damn proud of myself though!

I lost my first 12 lbs!!!
I know I don't post much and I don't participate all that much, so most of you barely even know me, but I had to share. I have gained so much weight since I quit smoking that I had to do something. A month ago, I really started buckling down and watching my food intake, keeping my cals at 1700 to 1800 a day and walking 3 - 10 minute walks a day. It has paid off!!! I have lost 12 lbs. I saw the doc today and he said if I can lose another 20 by around the first of December, we will run new blood work and see if we can take me off the pre diabetic medication I just got put on! So I'm THRILLED with my weight loss! I have a ton to go, but its a start. And its all because I figured, if I can quit smoking... I can lose this damn weight!

My fitness pal
Who is still logging at MyFitnesspal? I have been using livestrong for the last month or so, but signed up for myfitnesspal to see if I like the app/website sync better. Anyone have some tips and tricks for myfitnesspal? Also while I'm thinking about it. When I set up MFP it gave me 1800 cals a day. Can you change that? on Livestrong I was at 1700 a day and I feel that is better. Heck. who knows.. I might need it even lower?

Calling all Fish eaters... recipes needed
I tried the tilapia. I wasn't a fan. I'll get the cod again and will try other types of fish as I find them. Thanks for everyone's input!

rough day
Its more than normal. You smoked for years..you have only been quit for 2 months. Dig your heels in and hold on to this quit. I was just going down memory lane and found my "I lost my quit" post and how upset I was that I blew that quit, but that I started right back on the next day and have maintained that quit for over 18 months. This is doable. You can do this, just don't smoke. The first year is the hardest because of all the "firsts". Now I very rarely think of smoking...and its just a thought. No cravings, no desire. Its just a simple thought of.. I used to smoke.

I ate the cod. It did not kill me. It was actually pretty good. I kept it simple with garlic butter croutons crumbled up on the top as a "breading" and baked it. Next will be the tilapia. We shall see!

I think the fish just wasn't as fresh the second time I ate it. It was the same dish, two different times.

I have had tilapia twice. Once was very very good. The other? Not so much.

These sound really good. I'll have to give them a try. I'm so not a fish person, but I need to start liking it! :(

You made me laugh with the "Friends don't let friends" comment. As for fresh fish? I never thought of it. I will have to look at that option! I don't know where I would get it locally.

Calling all Fish eaters... recipes needed
I saw on another thread that several of you all are fish eaters. I am so not a fish eater and I'm so not a cook, but was hoping that you would share some of you fish recipes with me. I am going to buy some cod at Costco, so that will be my jumping off point! Sure would appreciate any input you could give! Thanks!

Darn I can't quote on this thread either. Anyway Chrysalis, I am that fat, middle ages, ex smoker too. The difference is, I've been fat all my life. Before I quit smoking I was at least comfortable in my fatness. I could move around, go for a walk... etc. But since I quit smoking I feel like I've gained a 100 lbs. I will find out in a few days just how much cuz I'm heading to the doctor to get better edu-umic-ated on weight loss, eating healthy, etc. At least its a jumping off point. And like you said, I'm trying to tackle this as I tackled the quit smoking. Trying to get into the same mind set. I just got to do it!
