  1. Well The Sarge already gave you that stripe. You HAVE TO earn it now, right? Right? Easy Peasy
  2. The Sarge's basement gym consists of a treadmill, a pull-up bar, and a big-screen TV connected to the interwebs (Netflix and the like). Going for that whole "minimalist" thing[1]. Easy Peasy FOOTNOTES: [1] Sarge has never intentionally lifted a weight in a gym in his life.
  3. This is where The Sarge's heart is -- The Great Outdoors[1] [2] FOOTNOTES [1] And, yes Virginia, he's wearing his combat boots. Can't abide any of those 21st century, new-fangled gym-shoe-hiking boots. Nope. Vietnam era US Army Government Issue Ground Pounding Leather Personnel Carriers for The Sarge, please. [2] Go ahead - photoshop somethin' in there. It's just screaming for it ...
  4. The "average runner" (is there such a thing?) is "comfortable running" (is there such a thing?) with a 180 bpm cadence. Start there and work up or down a few beats. The Sarge is comfortable from about 165 to 190, depending on what's going on. Easy Peasy
  5. \m/ \m/
  6. Home is where you hang your combat boots ... Easy Peasy
  7. I'm a Chicken Hawk![1] Easy Peasy FOOTNOTE: [1] No. Not really. Mrs. Sarge wouldn't allow that. ;)
  8. The Sarge feels ya: he often wonders just how easy/cushy folks have it in life that they find quitting hard ... Often phrased "The hardest thing I've ever done". Pfffft. The Sarge could tell stories about "hard" things in life ...
  9. Easy Peasy.
  10. The Sarge, to this day, still believes 9-Month to be the Best Anniversary (if he were to celebrate them himself (which he doesn't (right? ))) Enjoy! Easy Peasy
  11. You're new to this, aren't you? Easy Peasy
  12. You are not special. You are no more (or less) addicted than anyone else here. We are all addicts. Not a one of us is a Very Addict. Easy Peasy
  13. This guy gives The Sarge hope and inspiration. 70 yrs young . http://www.odditycentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Dr-Jeffrey-Life-550x383.jpg Easy Peasy
  14. 8-miler tonight. Avoiding.... Must. Start. By 10 PM. You. Lazy. Sgt. Sloth. Easy Peasy EDIT: After much procrastination and ... well ... being a slug, The Sarge finally got up off the couch, wandered to the basement Dreadmill and pounded out an 8-miler: 1% grade @ 1:06:43 (8:20/mile). Off tomorrow and long run (11-miler) on Sunday - outdoors (!!) if the weather holds out.
  15. The Sarge suspects a large number (majority ?) are folks from TheOtherPlace™ checking in and keeping tabs ... Easy Peasy
  16. Because The Sarge admits to knowing none of the above. He only knows that when Beth (Greenlover) got upset with the way things were being run, she referred to TheOtherPlace™ as a "Barney Board" ... and that is all Sarge knows of Barney and Friends. As to the title? The Sarge says: ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ! Easy Peasy
  17. The Sarge is Welsh heritage - but his favorite spirit is a Fine Irish Whiskey. It's gotta count for somethin', right? Easy Peasy
  18. Promotion time : you've earned your First Stripe, Private Juan. Easy Peasy
  19. ALL ABOARD! The 10:00 AM Express to Quittsville is departing in 2 minutes. Tickets, please ... Easy Peasy
  20. Snausages.
  21. !!Easy Peasy!!
  22. The Sarge likes to have a driving beat that matches his cadence. Makes for a no-brainer. Left-right-left-right-left ... all to the beat of the music ON the beat. For training runs, that's 172 to 180 BPM (Beats per minute) and for races he kicks it up to about 190 BPM. There are several online database of songs that you can search based on the BPM. Make your playlist(s) from those. Google will lead you there ... Easy Peasy
  23. Set a date - now, today, as you read this: set a date to be off the e-cigs and stick to it. The Sarge knows individuals still 5+ years later sucking on the damned things waiting for "when I'm ready ..." . Take quitting them every bit as seriously as you are taking quitting cigarettes. Easy Peasy
  24. If the US converted to the metric system, would that mean that a box of a dozen donuts would then contain only 10 donuts ( a "metric dozen")?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
