  1. The antibiotic I am on can be taken with or without food, though the Nurse Practitioner didn’t seem to know that.(I’m used to knowing more than the people treating me, even the doctors, sometimes) The pain meds make me a bit nauseous, but I am always on “clear liquids only”, when I take it. I could probably nibble on some crackers when I take it. The most important thing to do, when one has a bad flare up, is to rest the bowel for several days. If a particularly bad flare up, as this one certainly is, antibiotics are necessary to clear the inflammation/ infection. Thank you d, for your concern. It means a lot…

It’s times like this that I realize how blessed I am. Thank God I am not alone. Not only do I have a guy who thinks the world of me, but I have you guys, too. I will say this. The LAST thing in the world I want, right now, is a cigarette. I never know if it’s a good idea to call my kids, when I have a bad fare up. I am always torn between not wanting to worry them, and knowing hearing their voices will cheer me up. Ahhh! What the hey! They can take it….

Sounds like a plan, @jillar! This is a bad flare up. I know someone else , on the forum, also suffers with this. I have an order for a CT scan, to make sure no abscess, but I’m too sick to go out.Thank you, so much, for caring…..
  7. At least 2 days of fasting for me. Fever, severe abdominal pain, weird stools. God, I hate this. It takes about 36 to 48 hours to start feeling better. 1 st antibiotic on board. I caved and took low dose Norco with a Tylenol. I was holding off, because I might need my antianxiety med. But, my boyfriend says, “horse doo do!” He is a retired Pharmacist, so we make quite the medical pair. Intellectually, I know that taking one Norco and .5 mg of Klonopin is safe, but the medical community, in general, makes it their business to scare the crap out of anyone who has an RX for both. It’s a movement. I know there is an Opioid crisis, in this country. I also know, I’m not part of it. But the powers that be have me so paranoid, that I will try to refrain from taking my anti anxiety med. Ridiculous!

I got my antibiotics, and got the heck out of there. I am so sick right now. Though afebrile, this morning, suddenly I am burning up. Keep me in your thoughts, please. I am reluctant to take the pain meds, in case I need my anti-anxiety meds. What a mess!

Had to go to Urgent Care this morning for S/S of Diverticulitis, after an awful night of severe pain. While waiting to be called, an elderly couple walked in. The wife told the Registrar that she and her husband were both sick. The Registrar asked if they had any signs or symptoms of COVID. She says, Yes, that’s why we’re here. I immediately recoiled, and made sure to stay far away. Turns out they had both been vaccinated with J and J. The husband had been tested already, last Thursday, and they came in for results. WTF? They were not tested there, but apparently use the Urgent Care as their PCP. Why not call for the results? Turns out, hubby was positive, and I imagine she was, too, since she had symptoms. She had not been tested. So, that was my morning…..
  10. So, my treadmill will be assembled in a few hours, and I am on bed rest for 2 days. I can hardly believe that I have another flare up of Diverticulitis. I was treated for it less than a month ago, and truth be told, I accidentally skipped a few dose of my antibiotics, and didn’t quite finish the bottle. I should know better. I am a Professional Nurse, for goodness sake. What a maroon. I was up most of the night with severe lower abdominal pain. I finally caved and took a Norco. I feel a bit better today after a second dose, and a trip to Urgent care for antibiotics. I think I will take them all this time.

  19. I already thought of that. However, the treadmill comes with a free year of Ifit, which will give me access to numerous programs, led by personal trainers, where the program controls both speed and incline,on my machine, as I walk or hike various virtual trails, throughout the world. Can’t wait to try that. I agree, though, that, sometimes I should go outside. Currently, I have a 100 yard course mapped out on my very long driveway. I power walk it for 30 minutes twice a day.
