All of what you're saying above, JB, boils down to one thing: ADDICTION People's judgement and intelligence get trumped by the powerful force of being drawn to a substance even though the conscious mind knows that substance is bad for them in every conceivable way. It's no different from any other drug addiction or alcoholism. I am so grateful to be free from this deadly addiction.Hi Jet and welcome to the Quit Train. Hope the ease with your quit continues. It sounds like you have a good sense of humor. That will serve you well in this quitting process. When you think about it, it's the whole process of smoking is kinda ridiculous especially now that it's prohibited just about everywhere and people have to huddle outside buildings (often a certain number of feet away) to get their fix. I was reminded of my battle with those mother ****ers when I saw that I had missed Bakon's 5-year anniversary recap. I was on a plane at the time and had purchased a European plan from AT&T before I left so I could use my phone there. No sooner did I get into our rental car on the other side, there was a text from AT&T saying I had overused my data by $50. I was still saying WTF when another one popped up. In the space of about 2 minutes, I'd overused my data by $100! After several calls to them and finally getting a representatives who could explain what was going on, I learned that apps running in the background were sucking data through the phone even though I hadn't opened any of them, texted or opened a webpage. I turned off over 50 apps and still I kept getting these overuse texts. I turned off my phone and only used it in wifi. So much for buying a plan so I could use my phone over there - the plan I bought was useless. So only using the phone in the hotels where there was wifi, still I was charged for one text with a picture that I had sent when I know for a fact that I had been in wifi. Turns out that if the wifi signal is not strong enough, you get charged! Now I ask you, how in the **** is someone supposed to know that? And how is someone supposed to know whether the wifi signal is or isn't strong enough? So now because of this one picture text, they are claiming that I did use my phone and they have to open a case to determine whether they're going to refund me any of the almost $200 extra I was charged on this bill. If they don't, I'm going to another company- after over 25 years with AT&T. Not that they give a flying **** one way or another. AT&T! GrrrrrrrrrrThanks for bumping that great post, Bakon. I was on a plane when you posted that and totally missed it! Comforting to see what there is to look forward to by just keeping the NOPE and putting one foot in front of the other.
