  1. I guess I'm like Stevo.

I always thought of myself as a nice person so if someone asked to bum a smoke, I'd gladly give them one or two  (I always had an extra pack somewhere if I ran out).

I thought of giving someone a cigarette who desperately needed one as a good deed, especially in my teens and early twenties.

Now I realize I was contributing to the delinquency and possible disease of that person.  Yikes.  What kind of f'ed up good deed is that?

  2. You are doing great, Jules.

Allen Carr really helped me out too.  His book really changed my way of thinking about quitting.

In previous quits (which never lasted very long), I was always giving up something I loved in smoking.

After reading Carr's book, I accepted the fact that I was giving up nothing positive by quitting but actually gaining a whole better life by leaving those nasty and deadly cigarettes behind.  That change of mindset really helped me quit for good.

Keep up the great work.  It is definitely worth it.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
