February 3, 2013, the day I smoked my last cigarette.

At eleven years old, we were stealing our parents' cigarettes. As a high school freshman (14 years old), I had a brand preference (menthol, of course) and was smoking a pack a day. Every day of my life, every event of my life was accompanied by a cigarette. Come 2013, I couldn't imagine eating a meal, celebrating, making love or crying without that cigarette there. My constant companion. Always by my side, through the good and the bad.

I only got through it with the help of an online forum like this one, called Quit Net. It saved my life and saved my quit. I developed friendships that I still maintain, long after Quit Net died.

Life is good without cigarettes. I see people struggling today, stinky and gray looking, living life in two-hour increments, until that time when they stand in the heat and the snow and rain and suck down their own death. I'm so glad I'm not among them!

Hang in there. It gets better! But only if you don't smoke!

Hi Just Kay ,

I too started smoking at  eleven

Hanging out with the older kids in the back alleys of Liverpool , it was the thing to do

It took me until I was 62 to finally quit

Thanks to the Quittrain

We have a lot in common 👍🐸

Indeed, it is. Never thought that would apply to me. But lo and behold, it does! If anyone is out there lurking and doubting and feeling discouraged, take heart. YOUR very own quit awaits!

Gday JustKay

do you realise what a 13 years quit means?

You’re a Teenager Again! You’ve got to be happy with that!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
