Called to get my script of "pain pills" & was told as of oct 1 a patient has to come in or have someone come in to pick up a paper script or they can mail one certfied mail for $10 to you. So I was half awake so I called my sister & she said call & see if she could get it cause she was on her way to shop in my town, couldn't talk to the nurse but the desk person said yes she could but then failed to tell the nurse so my sister got their & they made her wait 45 minutes. If this is the new policy then I'm glad I'm getting a dr across the street from where I live. See it does have benifits living across the street from a hospital. I can see why they want to control drug use but still dragging people in monthly?? what a crock. :dash1:  :dash1: :dash1:  

That's a pain in the arse, they make you feel like a junkie collecting your pain meds as it is without that aswell x

Tell them it's not "green" to make you drive in each month. lol  That is a stupid law.

They change the class schedule on vicoden and other meds so now if you need a refill you have to see the Doctor  to get it each time and I believe it is every 90 days instead of 6 months as before when they could have refills on script. it is a DEA  or federal law thing.

My mother in Florida has been on narcotics for years and she needs a new paper prescription every month. Her doctor now writes 6 prescriptions at once for her and pre-dates each one. That way she only has to bring the script to the pharmacy each month.

 

She asked the pharmacy to hang onto the whole batch of prescriptions but they said they couldn't do that. At least they can still deliver the narcotics to her home-- I'm afraid that they will stop doing that soon. 

Hmmmm... I was wanting to move to Michigan... cause of their "drug" law.

It is unfortunate that this happened but as a former pharmacy admin and tech I hate to say it was necessary.  There is really no accountability for controlled medications with classification less than a C-2. Which unfortunately included certain pain meds. Those meds were being widely abused,,, between the doctors writing prescriptions for them with continuous refills like they are candy to fake prescriptions galore something needed to be done. 

 

Your prescriber and pharmacy should have told you about the change in class prior to it happening and helped to accommodate you Beth. :( I am sorry for the people who actually need the meds for pain because they suffer for other people. 

Unfortunately I've had 2 family members die that were addicted to pain meds in a big way. Scares the crap out of me, destroyed both their lives.

Thanks to everyone who posted, I'll know more on friday what this doofus is going to do. But no matter what I'm getting someone new-I can't deal with having my concerns ignored. :rolleyes:
