August 4, 20251 yr Our daughter gave birth very early this morning (12:02 AM) to our 2nd Granddaughter - Mia; Pearl. Mia was a name picked out by their 3 year old daughter for her soon to be sister and her middle name (Pearl) was the husband's Grandmother's name. She was 10 days late and I guess the extra cook time allowed her to pack on some weight. She was 8 lbs at birth! (Daughter is only around 110 lbs). Mother & baby were both fine through the delivery so that's a good thing. It's shocking how little time they spend in the hospital nowadays. Born at 12:02 AM & they were both back home by 3:30 AM 😲 Seems to me, back in the day, mums & babies stayed in hospital for at least 2 or 3 days; maybe even longer during my parents era? I suppose when it's a relatively easy and smooth birth, they get them outta there ASAP! In any case; cause for celebration for our clan today 😃
August 4, 20251 yr Aww Congratulations P Another little princess … Glad Mum and baby are doing fine , I agree they sent them home far to quick . I was in 10 days with my two .. I am going back a little bit lol . Welcome to the world little Mia Pearl ,a good healthy weight Love to all ❤️
August 4, 20251 yr Congratulations! 😀 That is wonderful news! Glad they are both doing well! Wow, they only kept her 3 hours, gee that's like a drive through birth...LOL!!! With my older son who is 37, I was in 5 days because he was a C-section, my younger son who is 32 was a natural and I stayed 5 days because I had an infection so they kept me a couple extra days. They don't keep them more than a day at the most now which I don't agree with. Anyway, all the best to you and your family!!

I think she was in 3 days last time but my daughter had some difficulties with that one. The other difference this time was she had a Mid-Wife helping her ever since she was about 6 month pregnant. The wife & I were very skeptical about this but it obviously was a good thing. They did a lot of work with her well before the birth which apparently paid off in the end.
August 5, 20251 yr Congratulations! Give that man a cigar… the bubble gum kind, of course. Glad all are doing well. I was born days after a “hundred-year” flood that had washed out almost all services in our tiny town. Everything was covered in mud, including the maternity ward at the hospital. My mother went into labor at 6:00 am, made the bed (!), went to the hospital ER, and had me at 7:30 am. There were no hospital rooms available for admissions that were not life threatening, so I was sent home by 9:00 am. I slept in a laundry hamper until someone could loan my folks a clean crib. And I turned out just fine. Well, somewhat eccentric… but otherwise fine. All of which is to say, it feels like such a vulnerable time. But sometimes being at home is safer, cleaner and less stressful for everyone than the hospital is. I’m sure little Mia and her family will thrive… especially with Grampa Piggy on their team!
