Don't be scared

I know Halloween is coming up, and I've read and watched a lot of tv on ghosties in my 38 years.

So here is the scariest one I've come across:

There is an episode on Paranormal Witness call "The Poltergeist" based on this.  This info has since been taken down in most places and I had to do some digging to find it somewhere.  Score.

http://paranormaleye.blogspot.com/2010/01/raging-spirit-true-story-of-spiritual.html

(Honorable mention The Hag - eek http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1443921/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl  )

What is your experience in the paranormal?  (Or woo woo as some would say.)

Marti, DD, I hope you give us some good dish here.

Brucie's House

Bruce had a house, Uptown New Orleans.

It  looked a little like this but nicer,

wooden pillars and railings, a little gingerbread.

Built 1920's ?  20th century for sure,

not far from The Levee.

raised%2520double.jpg

I stayed downstairs for a while

in Capt Roosters apartment  while he was offshore.

It was one big and a few little  low ceiling rooms.

Deep in the night or early morning,

drunk or sober,

I would see a shadow walk across the big room floor and wall.

There, in clear silhouette,

a man wearing a top hat and  flared knee-length, high collar coat.

I want to say he had a cane

but, that is more likely imagination than memory.

The shadow looked like the kind of man who would have a cane

and be wearing early 19th century clothes.

I didn't feel frightened

only a rush,

the initial shock !

What IS that ?

My body was on a kind of  alert

as when seeing something unexpected

but, he didn't give me the wooo wooo shivers.

His shadow would walk across,

as if on a diagonal path,  every night?

I thought of him walking home after a soiree or,  a late supper in the Quarters.

I saw him too many times to mention.

When Capt Rooster came back onshore,

I asked him about the shadow and he said,

"oh, I forgot to mention..."

wooo woooo

It's a bit dated now, and very English, but when I was allowed to stay up and watch Ghostwatch when I was 10... I didn't sleep for a week! I was terrified of going near the under stairs cupboard... DD, you might appreciate it. At the time, it was supposed to be completely authentic... it's got Michael Parkinson in it for Pete's sake, lol... And the BBC got inundated with complaints - there has never been anything close to it since. Enjoy ;)

So what do you guys have under your stairs if you don't have cupboards...?!

Hope you enjoy it - I watch it most years, on or around Halloween ;)

Speaking of NOLA - this little gem is one of the creepiest / saddest I've ever heard of.

I can't get this to play on my iPad, will check it out when on laptop, but if it's from the 90's I'm sure it's great.

Wow, Ava,

Haven't thought about them in a while.

We used to drink at the same bar.

I didn't know them, only enough to say hello.

He was pretty nice, she wasn't so nice.

Zach delivered groceries from my little grocery store.

Used to see him a lot.

Now I have the willies and it's late and its dark.

I have a toilet in the cupboard under my stairs :)

What I do has some weird name which I can't remember, so it comes as thoughts, rather then me seeing.  My most awful things are going to funerals as I can feel emotions too. So my version of a ghost story is always a little different.

Back in May I went to my Chris's, step sisters wedding. She's a step sister as her Dad was married to my fella's Mum, sadly he passed on 3 years back. He was a lovely guy apparently and greatly missed. He came through pretty clearly as the speeches started, pissed as ya like at how lame they were and how stupid his ex wife was lol. I now have a running commentary going on head and am struggling to look anything but odd trying to listen in two places haha, Chris noticed and covered me thank goodness. We talked it through after and it was strange because I was able to ask why I kept seeing cream roses that were being called cream not white and it transpired they had planted a rose garden for him. I'm sure if I push on they would remember a conversation about the colour of them but I choose not to let people know I do this for the most part so only told Chris.

The one thing I do like about spirits coming through is how loving they still are to those here. They still see them and care. But they feel very relaxed and there's no "pace" to anything, it's all very peaceful for them.  On the whole I don't choose to work with this and block it a lot but it still comes to me sometimes. So I've not done the haunted house stuff, not sure I would like the experience.   Quite happy with my nan pep talking me and the odd spirit coming around now that I've managed to calm it all down :)

Visitor on Burgundy Street

I was living in a very rustic two room creole cottage.
It was in the center of the block,  behind the houses facing the street.
Lots of green. Urban wildlife. Secluded.
My daughter snidely referred to it as 'the wild kingdom'.
You can stroll around the neighbourhood
(google map-Burgundy and Clouet New Orleans.)

It was slower and funkier back in '89.
I loved that crib.

I was sitting one warm summer evening in the kitchen room
with my friend, Laurent, having a friendly chat.
There was no air conditioning,
just the whir of ceiling fan
and a nice cold drink when,
during a break in our conversation,
the screen door creaked open and a man's voice drawled,

"Yeah, darlin', here I am"

My ears heard Southern but, South-Western like Texas or Louisiana/Texas.
He sounded as though he had come in from a long trail ride herding cattle or ?
A voice, weary and dusty but, there was a smile on it too.  A big smile.

Laurent pushed his chair back and rose immediately from the table.
He was thinking my man or boyfriend du jour was there
and he had better scram but quick!

I went outside and looked around for him,
thinking maybe my neighbour boys were joking about.
No one was there.
Walked clear around the cabin.  Nothing.  Nobody.

Coming back inside
I got a big rush of COLD,
remarkable,  because the night was hot, hot summer hot.
Body hair was standing on end,
was there an electrical smell ?

Laurent was nervous as a cat
so we walked down to Markey's bar
for a restorative cocktail and a telling of the tale.
He tells this story to this day and remembers it just as I have written.
The whole scene really wigged him out,
well, first he thought he was going to get clocked by some other guy come a courtin',
and then the paranormal stuff.
The 'cold', the electric smell, the hair standing on end,
never felt that before or since.
I was more curious than anything.
His voice was friendly and warm and sexy too.
Who was he ?
