  1. Hi, I'm a newbie to this forum, I joined just a few weeks ago. Is there just a regular chat, you know, like talk about anything? Today, I want to know how all of you on the East Coast of North America, (USA and Canada) are doing because there are terrible wildfires in Canada, and here in NYC, where I live, it's been really bad. About 1.30/2PM EST the sky looked orange, almost like Armageddon😲, but after about an hour it's like a grey color. The sun looks like it wants to come out a bit. Hopefully it will. Anyway, I hope all Canadians and Americans are doing well, hopefully the fires in Canada will end soon! Anyway, are there forums for just regular chatting, like how's the weather, I'm going on vacation, my son is graduating from high school/college, Etc. Is this the right place? If not, please tell me, because I'm looking to have a chat forum, because it keeps my mind off of smoking! Thanks! 😃

  4. I hope it gets better because sometimes it seems like its getting worse! Thanks for your help! 🥰
  5. It seems that I take out my frustrations on the people that I care about the most and this is not good! It's almost 2 weeks since I had a cigarette so the nicotine is out of my system, then why am I still getting physical urges? I get that feeling in my mouth sometimes just like I did the first week of not smoking.
  6. I had a big argument with my best friend today over which type of salmon is better!! It was ridiculous but it's cause I'm so stressed out! I was having a few drinks while I was cooking and texting her. It was not easy while I was cooking. But, now is OK...I think I'm over it for the most part!
  7. Ohh I hope you are right that the urges will soon go away!! I don't smoke pot anymore, Ohhh Jill, I am going through hell for sure, as all of us have in the beginning!! It's just horrible!! 😬
  8. Wow!! 8 years old for your first cigarette!! Yeah I get it...I totally get it all! Its just so difficult when I have marital problems and just life problems and a mother who is not doing very well. 😢
  9. You know what I wish!! I Wish that I never started smoking when I was 17, and that was a very long time ago!! Back in the day I used to smoke pot, I don't smoke it anymore ,(haven't smoke it in so many years, even though it's legal in NY, I don't like it and don't like the way it makes me feel). I used to like it as a teenager, but not anymore. When I smoked pot, I smoked cigarettes because it would enhance the "high" of the marijuana. But that was years ago, and I don't smoke pot anymore!
  10. Hi Jill, I'm so glad this is normal!! No ,I'm not really glad that they suffered, It's jus horrible! Thanks!!! It's so Fu%*@>g difficult!!😞
  11. Thanks, I know that. It's not even 2 weeks yet, so is this normal? It's just so freaken hard, as you know! I just wish the cravings would totally go away and I want to forget that I ever smoked!
  12. I'm having a very small meltdown folks! No, I'm not going to smoke because I don't have any, and I'm certainly not going to buy any! Basically just having an urge which I'm having trouble dealing with! It's almost 2 weeks quit for me, but I still do get the urges. Definitely not as bad as the first week, but they are still there!! 😬 I just want to wake up one day and not think about smoking! I know it all has been less than the first week, as I said, but the urge and thoughts are still there. I want them to go away!! I'm so impatient! 🙄
  13. Sorry you still have the shingles! Did you go to the doc and get the anti viral pills? 4 weeks is great!! Keep it up!👍
  14. Thank you, but believe me Robin, it's not easy for me at all. I still get cravings even after 10 days, it's just not as bad as the first few days. I am always hungry and I'm trying to lose weight because I am a prediabetic, so I have lots of negative things going for me. It's so difficult for sure!! Yes, keeping busy is key! I'm retired but I still have my husband and 30 year old son that lives with me, and they keep me busy for sure...sometimes way too busy!! If I can give you just one piece of advice, is to take one day at a time, or even a couple hours at a time, or 1 hour at a time! I don't look beyond tomorrow, I just take it slow and every day is a day in the right direction. I know it's so hard, one of the hardest things that we all have done, but in the end it's worth it and it won't be hard anymore. Since I have quit before and you have as well, we both know that eventually all the urges and difficulties will be gone. But, since we fell off the train, it got hard again. So, Robin, let's just take this slow, and every day that we make it without smoking, is a total accomplishment!!! You can do it and so can I!!! 😁
  15. I am still struggling Robin! It's so difficult, as you know! I try my best but it's not easy at all! I think one day it will be, but you and I are newbies....so my suggestion is just be on this site every day! That is what I do, and if you need to post that you are struggling, just post it!!! I may post something tonight, I have see how I feel. Just post here, nobody will judge you, everyone will understand you!!! 🙂
  16. Yup, it's totally normal. All the emotions and cravings you are feeling are normal. All part of the quit process, but like I said in my previous post, it does get better as time goes on. I believe each day will get easier. Last week I was keeping cinnamon sticks or plastic straws in my mouth and it helped me. You might want to try that when you get the cravings. Hang in there and best of luck! You can do it!! 😃
  17. Hi Robin, Welcome! I am new here as well. I have been smoke free for over 10 days now and my story is similar to yours as this is my 2nd time quitting. The first time I quit for 6 years using Chantix and then unfortunately went back. I also had a family issue and couldn't handle the stress so I went back to smoking. But, at least we decided to quit this time. This time I did the weaning method. After I had that last cigarette I felt the same way like you, like I was giving up my best friend! Same exact thing, but it does get better as my cravings are much less this week than they were last week when I had a couple of meltdowns. The people on this forum are great! They are so understanding, sympathetic and helpful. So stick around and read a lot of the information and whenever you feel the need to vent, we are all here to help you! 😃
  18. So sorry that you have shingles....I had it a few years ago and I know exactly what you are going through. The pain is just horrible. But, you can get antiviral meds and painkillers from your doctor. That's what I did and I was only in bad pain for 1 day. Go to your doc today, if you can. Glad you haven't smoked, because it certainly wouldn't help at all!
  19. Thanks! It was hell on a few of those days. On to better days ahead!😃
  20. Woo hoo!!! Yippee!! LOL!! Today I really didn't have an urge at all...it was a good day as far as the urges go. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same! 😁
  21. Thanks, I am plugging along every day. Tomorrow will be a week that I haven't smoked!😁
  22. You mention time....I do understand but I'm an impatient person. I guess I better learn to have some patience! 😁

  24. There has got to be some sort of medication or substance that will take away the cravings. I don't want to go on the patch because all that will do is put nicotine back in my system, and I have been smoke free for almost 6 days. So, please folks, give me a suggestion on how to cut the cravings? I know, get a hobby, get busy. I don't have a hobby, but I take care of a family and have lots of chores, cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc., so I am quite busy! I need some sort of pill, medical thing, etc? It's 2023, there has got to be something that takes away these cravings??? 😬
