Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
It seems that I take out my frustrations on the people that I care about the most and this is not good! It's almost 2 weeks since I had a cigarette so the nicotine is out of my system, then why am I still getting physical urges? I get that feeling in my mouth sometimes just like I did the first week of not smoking.

Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
I had a big argument with my best friend today over which type of salmon is better!! It was ridiculous but it's cause I'm so stressed out! I was having a few drinks while I was cooking and texting her. It was not easy while I was cooking. But, now is OK...I think I'm over it for the most part!

Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
You know what I wish!! I Wish that I never started smoking when I was 17, and that was a very long time ago!! Back in the day I used to smoke pot, I don't smoke it anymore ,(haven't smoke it in so many years, even though it's legal in NY, I don't like it and don't like the way it makes me feel). I used to like it as a teenager, but not anymore. When I smoked pot, I smoked cigarettes because it would enhance the "high" of the marijuana. But that was years ago, and I don't smoke pot anymore!

Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
I'm having a very small meltdown folks! No, I'm not going to smoke because I don't have any, and I'm certainly not going to buy any! Basically just having an urge which I'm having trouble dealing with! It's almost 2 weeks quit for me, but I still do get the urges. Definitely not as bad as the first week, but they are still there!! 😬 I just want to wake up one day and not think about smoking! I know it all has been less than the first week, as I said, but the urge and thoughts are still there. I want them to go away!! I'm so impatient! 🙄

Hello There!
Thank you, but believe me Robin, it's not easy for me at all. I still get cravings even after 10 days, it's just not as bad as the first few days. I am always hungry and I'm trying to lose weight because I am a prediabetic, so I have lots of negative things going for me. It's so difficult for sure!! Yes, keeping busy is key! I'm retired but I still have my husband and 30 year old son that lives with me, and they keep me busy for sure...sometimes way too busy!! If I can give you just one piece of advice, is to take one day at a time, or even a couple hours at a time, or 1 hour at a time! I don't look beyond tomorrow, I just take it slow and every day is a day in the right direction. I know it's so hard, one of the hardest things that we all have done, but in the end it's worth it and it won't be hard anymore. Since I have quit before and you have as well, we both know that eventually all the urges and difficulties will be gone. But, since we fell off the train, it got hard again. So, Robin, let's just take this slow, and every day that we make it without smoking, is a total accomplishment!!! You can do it and so can I!!! 😁

I may post something tonight, I have see how I feel. Just post here, nobody will judge you, everyone will understand you!!! 🙂

Hello There!
Yup, it's totally normal. All the emotions and cravings you are feeling are normal. All part of the quit process, but like I said in my previous post, it does get better as time goes on. I believe each day will get easier. Last week I was keeping cinnamon sticks or plastic straws in my mouth and it helped me. You might want to try that when you get the cravings. Hang in there and best of luck! You can do it!! 😃

Hello There!
Hi Robin, Welcome! I am new here as well. I have been smoke free for over 10 days now and my story is similar to yours as this is my 2nd time quitting. The first time I quit for 6 years using Chantix and then unfortunately went back. I also had a family issue and couldn't handle the stress so I went back to smoking. But, at least we decided to quit this time. This time I did the weaning method. After I had that last cigarette I felt the same way like you, like I was giving up my best friend! Same exact thing, but it does get better as my cravings are much less this week than they were last week when I had a couple of meltdowns. The people on this forum are great! They are so understanding, sympathetic and helpful. So stick around and read a lot of the information and whenever you feel the need to vent, we are all here to help you! 😃

Day 2 already?
So sorry that you have shingles....I had it a few years ago and I know exactly what you are going through. The pain is just horrible. But, you can get antiviral meds and painkillers from your doctor. That's what I did and I was only in bad pain for 1 day. Go to your doc today, if you can. Glad you haven't smoked, because it certainly wouldn't help at all!

Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
There has got to be some sort of medication or substance that will take away the cravings. I don't want to go on the patch because all that will do is put nicotine back in my system, and I have been smoke free for almost 6 days. So, please folks, give me a suggestion on how to cut the cravings? I know, get a hobby, get busy. I don't have a hobby, but I take care of a family and have lots of chores, cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc., so I am quite busy! I need some sort of pill, medical thing, etc? It's 2023, there has got to be something that takes away these cravings??? 😬

Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
Back then insurance didn't cover it, but I had a coupon from Rite Aid at the time and it cost me around $120 a month for 3 months, but I bought it and stuck with it for the 3 month program. Although, it made me so nauseous in the morning for about 30 mins after I took the first pill. That part was really bad but it did go away after a while. I also had vivid dreams, not nightmares just almost like 3D dreams. Those were kind of cool...LOL!! The reason why I am not getting the Chantix now is because my insurance company doesn't know that I smoke and if I get the prescription from my doctor, they might drop me, so I can't take the chance.

Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
What is the One Year pledge, and where do I find it? The last time I quit I used Chantix and it was so much easier. I didn't get very many urges like I am now, or at least they didn't last all day.

Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
Thanks!! I wasn't gonna smoke because I'm not buying any. I know everyone is different, I'm hoping that maybe in a month they will go away? I think about smoking most of the time which isn't good, but I can't help it.

Trying to quit, having lots of trouble
Hi everyone! Yesterday was a tough day for me. My husband and I went to visit friends for the day, we were gone from late morning until around 10 at night. We had lots of snacks and drinks so the urges were pretty much with me all day long! I didn't smoke though and did get through it pretty good, but I don't like these all day urges. I am proud of myself that I was able to handle it. Hopefully the urges will go away soon as I'm smoke free for over 5 days so shouldn't they be gone by now?
