I love how everyone here has handled this discussion. I think the fact that Chrysalis was able to post her feelings (which are just as valid as anyone else) and the thread did not have to be locked and members were not banned for having a different view is the best possible proof that there really is no comparison between us and any other sites. This site has been here less than year so of course there are fewer threads than a site that's been around for years. That said, if you view past threads on the other site there are tons and tons of unhelpful threads with members fighting and lots and lots of social threads and groups of people who have formed strong bonds while they worked on their quits. It's a normal part of the process in my opinion. I do think we can always think of ways to appeal to all types of people. Some are more serious than others and we want to help them too absolutely! I have always spent more time on the social side of the board because it was a distraction for me. At first I read a lot but after a while I knew what I needed to know and it became more about getting more distance between me and my last cigarette. That and the companionship of others who were feeling the same things is what helped me.. For anyone reading this thread I encourage you to post in the counting, cat, dog or any other thread as often as you want or need if that is what it takes to keep your mind off smoking. If what you need is something else, then let us know! xx
