  1. So, this thread just kinda devolved. Saw the first two or three posts and thought to myself "Ummm yes I will!"and went to the last page to post and something isn't the same anymore. ?
  2. Man, I wish I felt half as confident as my posts sound. LOL! I'm still uncomfortable all the dang time. And, I keep having thoughts like "You're not REALLY ready to quit" and "You were successful for 5 years, so this oughtta be easy peasy" and "I should just have one in the mornings" and all sorts of other similar addictionny stuff. Hopefully, the habits I developed as a non-smoker will kick in soon. In the meantime, I'll just keep NOPEing and finding something else to do. Boredom is a dangerous thing for me right now. I can't quite relax into this quit yet.
  3. Great advice that I would have DEFINITELY followed if it got too tough. And my friends would have totally understood and supported me But, I'm glad that I stuck it out. It's not every day that your very best friend has a birthday, and one of the (many) reasons I want to quit is so I'm not missing stuff (which always seemed to happen when I stepped out for a smoke break.) LOL!
  4. Or maybe take a nap. I have been so SLEEPY the couple of days.
  5. I survived the show. Didn't smoke. I'm back home now, and feeling good. Gonna go put on comfy clothes and binge watch some TV to keep the ol noggin busy.
  6. Oh, sweet baby Jesus! Either a Twizzler OR deep breathing. Not both at the same time. (Choke hazard. Oops.)
  7. Ugh. Posting through a tough one. Twizzlers in my fingers. Deep breaths. Took birthday girl outside so she can have a smoke break... (ironically, the ones I gave her earlier)... dang. This is just tempting the addiction. This sucks. A lot right now. Just a few more minutes... yes, I already feel the craving passing. I'll continue posting through these. Apologies if I become a pest. I did it though. Didn't smoke. Enable Beast Mode. I WILL NOT SMOKE TODAY.
  8. I can do this. Palms sweating. Hands shaking. NOT SMOKING.
  9. 2nd mimosa will be my last. NOPEing hard right now. Deep breaths.
  10. Gave my remaining half a pack to the birthday girl. And, she's holding on to my handful of Twizzlers that might be needed. Waiting on a mimosa delivery. Gonna have fun and NOT SMOKE.
  11. Thank you for the vote of confidence. If only I'd known exactly how to not smoke after a five year quit, I wouldn't be in this boat again. Still kicking myself for this relapse, but determined to put the last eight months of smoking behind me. I'm so thankful for this group. I would not have been successful last time without it, and I have every intention of learning on you all this time. And, paying it forward if I'm able.
  12. I seem to remember the second or third day being tougher than the first. It's as if the excitement and motivation of the first day just dissipates and it becomes easier to lose your determination. Not today. Gotta be extra vigilant today. Going out to brunch for my friend's birthday soon. It's a drag show (I have no idea why she chose this) and there will likely be drinking. Gonna be a tough one. But, I gotta say, I LOVE that this site is more mobile friendly than where I used to post. It puts my support system right there with me wherever I go!
  13. Sleeping Twizzlers Crisps Exercise Binge TV Talking Board games Phone ga.es Social media ...and that's just the first day. Anything but smoking.
  14. Thank you for sharing this. My experience has been similar so far. Oh! And, I accidentally hit "report you" when I was figuring out how to reply. Pretty sure I canceled it, but if an admin contacts you, I'll tell them it was my accident. If, however, you are not contacted by an admin, this conversation never happened. LOL!
  15. TravellingSunny posted a blog entry in TravellingSunny
I wasn't prepared to write my first blog post ever in my life tonight - but, I mean, here's this option right here and this site has just made it so easy and I always said I wanted organize my old posts to remember how awful it was... Here I am. Again with the first day. Again with the relentless discomfort that follows every life segment. Wake up. Remind myself that "No. You don't smoke anymore." Drink coffee. "No. You don't smoke anymore." Driving. "NOPE." Finished breakfast. "NOPE." And so on throughout a seemingly endless series of NOPE that represents, what? It's only been a day? ONE day? But, my reality is different than that. It still sucks, and it still feels incessant (this constant tendency to want a cigarette and the resulting need to remind myself of my NOPE and to redirect my thoughts to something (anything, really) else. Yet, this all feels familiar to me, and not nearly as scary and horrible as last time. I hate to say it, but until.this morning, I wasn't sure that I wanted to quit today. I saw my pack of cigarettes on the table when I came downstairs this morning. Seventh day on Chantix. I COULD quit today... OR I could keep smoking for a whole 'nother week because I like smoking. Wait. What? And, that's when it hit me. I LIKE smoking?!? No I don't! Who said that? Me? Surely not. Ugh. So here I am. Again.
  16. Thanks! Bummer that I can't get to all of my old posts, but I'm glad that the concept and community are still around! I'll certainly need you all!
  17. The last time I quit, I gained support from an organization online forum similar to this one called QuitSmokingMessageBoard.com. That one is no longer around, but some of your user names look familiar to me. Did a lot of members migrate here? What happened to the old group? And the old posts? Just curious if anyone knows.
  18. Agreed. But my oldest son is in town and I don't want to miss a second hanging out with him. LOL! I have plans for brunch with my neighbors and friends tomorrow, and they will be certainly receiving the remainder of my pack.
  19. I'm working the quit today. So far, still NOPE.
  20. Not yet. I hid them in my husband's drawer until I go out with my neighbors (tomorrow.) I've left the house and am out visiting my parents (who can't be around smoke due to health issues.) Just trying to keep busy today. LOL! STILL NOPE.
  21. Still NOPE.
  22. Haha! I love this statement. Thank you. I've got this for at least another hour. I'll be back soon.
  23. There's no tobacco in pot, so it won't trigger the physical cravings... but the mental connections (putting stuff in your mouth and lighting it on fire, inhaling smoke, etc.) could be an issue. If you're early in your quit, I don't recommend it.
