  1. I love the way you're dealing with the craves Sunny, I mean you're dealing with them rather than any thoughts of giving in to them. Good work! Keep reminding yourself that it will get better and easier, later.

  2. If you end up being able to do it all on your own that's wonderful Sunny.

But (and this is just my own personal opinion based on my reading many tales of relapsing) if it comes to where you feel you might relapse without the med, then stay on it, especially if you continue to feel no serious side effects. Crutches are used for a reason: they enable us to gain the strength we need and the healing we need before we're ready to walk off on our own. Lest we might re-injure ourselves by trying to walk unaided too early.

You're doing great with almost having your first week done and dusted! Keep up your strong work!

  3. Well, you saw red with your anger.....but you were able to walk away from the situation and you didn't smoke after. These are victories that you can be proud of. Maybe you can use what happened as a lesson to use in the days and weeks to come? (1) Walk away from anger-inducing situations; and (2) smoking helps NOTHING.

We promise you Novo that everything will get easier and better.....but only if you don't smoke!

  4. Hi Miss Vee, glad to meet you. You have made the best decision ever to quit smoking - I think you will be amazed at how much better your health and life will be as a nonsmoker.

Please spend as much time as you can either watching videos or reading all about the addiction. It is important for us to totally understand the reasons behind NOPE (Not One Puff Ever). And stay close to the board and post often, it really helps in your early days and weeks.

    Welcome aboard.

  5. Good job Sunny.

I remember the days of cleaning the inside of the windshield and seeing all that yellow-brown yuck that came off on the towel. A film that I never really saw until I went to clean it off.

You're doing great with reminding yourself that cravings won't kill you. You know the end result will be oh so worth it! Keep up your great work!

  6. Hang in there Rusty. You are smarter than the addiction. You have more discipline than the addiction. You have more endurance than the addiction. You are stronger than the addiction. You are more handsome and better looking than the addiction.

    :)

Five days is fantastic work and you can build on this.....but only if you don't smoke.

(Do you have any home improvement projects you've been putting off? Boy, today would be the perfect time to start them, wouldn't it? I cleaned and organized closets in my first weeks of quitting.)

  7. I used to think of that pack of cigs in my mouth but not lit, just cramming 20 raw unlit cigs in my mouth and I could imagine the awful taste and the way every bit of the moisture in my mouth would be gone and I couldn't swallow and I would be gagging and retching.....

    Aversion therapy.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
